Alpine Type X vs. RE XXX

current setup- 3 type x 12"s runnin 1000 rms to each...ported boxes hit as high as 149 on termlab...

how would 2 15" re xxx compare in a nice ported box? ran at around 2000 rms each...

also how do you think a couple md-3d amps at 1 ohm do for these xxx's

i have no experience with xxx so give me some insight

true, but that is a pretty **** good score for some type X's

That is a good score for some type x's. Re Audio would accept more power, and if I did not mis-read you would be going from 3-12" to 2-15" so IDK. I really like RE obviously so they get my vote. I love my XXX's

yeah i have hit anywhere from mid 140s all da way to 149...it is in an ext cab taco...everything dynamated(fat mat) but roof... i really want to try these xxx's but it would be useless if i didnt gain any db...i know the type x arent the best spl sub but i really have no experience with da xxx's any advice on what to power them with?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

xxx's aren't very efficent so I wouldn't run them if numbers are what your after...try the MT instead

the type x are sql subs ( i have 2 of them) and the xxx's are more towards spl. so if you just want to get louder, then yea the xxx's will be better for you. If you want a combo of both, then just get another type x and give it 1000 watts as well..if you decide to sell them type x's though, let me know!!

the type x are sql subs ( i have 2 of them) and the xxx's are more towards spl. so if you just want to get louder, then yea the xxx's will be better for you. You couldnt be further from the truth man...

RE XXX in itself is a vague description....There were about 4 different popular models of this sub, all with different characteristics...Now, assuming you are talking about the new 06+ XXX. This sub is one of the best subs to show the mythical SQL quality...And they are very loud, and very clean, but your numbers with them is going to be very install dependent...Ive seen two 12"s do a 150.1 and ive seen 4 of them do a 148.5...If you are going for SPL with decent sound, try to find a pair of the old XXX's with the 12 spoke basket and the XBL^2 motor....

move away from SQ subs to SPL subs. Neither XXX or Alpine type X are SPL subs IMO.

If you are staying RE, go with SXs.
