been out of the audio world for a couple years and im getting back in...... the install will be in my semi truck ( installed in sleeper) my box is my old vented 2 cubes tuned to 32 hz.... my amp is an alpine M500 (roughly 500rms) ... the box is located pretty much behind my head but more toward the passenger side in my sleeper, so i need something that isnt gonna sound like sh*t......which of these two subs would you reccomend (or others) budget is around $160...... i want clean but loud

I've got SAs right now and I've actually been eye balling the brand new Type Rs. Looks like they can be had for less than a BNIB SA and spec better.. but I have no idea about performance. I'm VERY curious to see though.

yeah i remember the old type r's being loud but sounding like ****... so im also wondering on the improvements of the new ones
Meh, they didn't sound TERRIBLE. They were ahead of their time. A lot of people took notes from those woofers.

The old SE doesn't have anything on either of the woofers you talked about before. They got stinky on small power. I've demolished SAs with 1500rms and they barely got stinky.

What kind of box space? If that's the case neither woofer is really an optimal choice.

I wouldn't touch either woofer unless you have at LEAST 1k on tap or room for a larger than usual enclosure.

yeah thats why im askin been out of the car audio scene for about 4 years, so i have no idea what is out there any more. everything i seem to look at is 1000rms rated and i dont want an entry level sub.... ya know what im sayin, time for more research i guess

Look at the new Audiopipe APSM1500, it's only $120 shipped and does a real 1500rms. Some doubt it.. but I speak from experience. After that you'd please either of those woofers. I'd grab the SA with that type of power.
