hi all

I want to hook up the second battery for my car audio system.I want to know how to install it?I read many topic about how to install but I've question about the isolator

What does the isolator do for adding the second battery?

every one in my country said don't need to use the isolator and just install the battery in parallel mode.

I want to tell me all about the isolator in this situation for my car audio and tell me how to hook up!

thanks

an isolator is just there to separate the batteries in a situation where the car would be off, with the stereo or other equipment in use. the purpose is to only use one battery (potentially draining it) while leaving the second battery charged to start the vehicle. others use them to separate batteries that aren't exactly alike or from the same batch as to stop them from draining each other. i have a dual battery setup and do not use one. i can leave my stereo on for extended amounts of time without issue.

thank you

so you mean it's important to install the isolator for installing the second battery, yes?if I don't install it what will happened? (sorry for asking to many question)

now I've a battery which is provide 100 ampers for me.and an alternator which only provide 80 ampers.I want to change the alternator to 150 amper and add the second battery which provides 65 ampers for me.

now I've big electrical issue when my car audio system is on and because of that I want to upgrade the electrician of my car.it would wondering me if you help me to set it up

sorry.I'm not good at english

Wiring them I'm parallel will yield u the best result as it will combine the amp/hour ratings 100a+65amp=165amp/hour capacity. your alt will supply the 150amps of current continuously. it's when the current draw is over 150amps that you start to pull from your batts. The larger the amp/hour capacity the longer it takes for the voltage to drop. All the isolator does is separate on bat from the other if you are going to be playing the stereo with the car off alot I suggest you use one otherwise it is not necessary and will do nothing good for the performance of the electrical system.

u mean in case of using car audio system when the car off i should use the isolator?
did you not read my post? however, i can run mine without an isolator and be fine. i guess it depends on the length of time and how much draw, but mine have never given me problems.

man I'm so sorry I don't get the sentence at the first time

thank again.so I decided to run mines without using isolator.because in my country it's so expensive and difficult to bye one of that.

thank again.

and now would you plz help me to hook it up?how to wire it?I should use 00 gage cable or 0 gage? should I use second holder fuse?

how much power are you running? most of the time 0g will suffice. i would stick a 250A fuse in between them in the case that something does short

what car? some folks recommend running a negative wire front to back for uni-body cars. once again, i had mine without for a while without issue. for connecting batteries, i'd recommend 1/0 wire, and a fuse within 18 inches of each battery (mine are 300a). go positive to positive, negative to negative.

I need to drive my soundtream T5-15" which need 1000 w rms and 300 w extra power for my coaxial speakers !

I don't know any more about car audio.when I turn my system audio near the max volume I've faced whit electrical problem whit the car electrical.for the exam my car light will decrease the shine and some time turned off!
