alarm siren output

in rockvile
ok i just installed a compustar 900fm in my car. and when i was geting ready to hook up the siren i checked the ouput wire on the alarm for any types of signals wit my dmm. i had not type of signal no negative postive pulse. or any thing so im just wondering if im missing something because right now i have no siren on my car.
