Adjusting my amp to allow my sub to hit lows better

well, when i used to run my type r in a small pre fab box (1 cf) i used to get the same thing when listening to white girl. Once i put it in a bigger box it did better, also, you need to look in your manual how to adjust the lows and the EQ curves on you head unit. If you have the lows down it will decrease your 45 htz range alot. An i mean, ALOT. Don't freak out just yet?
And how much power are you feeding them? Find your manual to the head unit to.
i set the crossover on my HU.. according to the manual after i set it to "on" i should pick up everything down to 20 Hz.. but im still not lol... is it possible to be sending too much power to the sub so that it doesnt pick up lows? idk?

and im using a hifonics 1208d wired at 2 ohms so it should be getting 900w assuming hifonics is rated correctly.. which i know it isnt but id say its getting for sure 700-800

edit: what does non-fader phase do: i can set it at normal or reverse.. HU manual doesnt explain exactly what that does

i pmed incriminator and asked him what size box and he said 3.5 cubes.
no you guys are right 3.5 is a decent size

i couldnt picture it too well didnt realize 3.5 is only .5 cubes less

then 4 which is visually a good size LOL

it's all about your lows settings on the head unit man. You need to figure out how to adjust the EQ curves and lows on the head unit. It is the only thing that will boost the 45 hertz range up higher.

OK, now you need to find the manual.

Box is solid, but on the small side as that's the biggest that would fit through the trunk opening.

3.25cubes net @ 33Hz with 12^2 of port per cube. Trust me I wanted to do 4cubes, but there was NO way to make it fit as I tried several designs.

Jake you also have to realize that lower notes aren't felt/heard like higher notes. You could just be expecting it to hit hard down low and it won't do that, should be more of a rumble that rattles your car.

Stop by on Saturday and I'll take a look at it. I'm also interested to hear what IA has to say. I'm guessing they'd like the sub in a bigger enclosure, even though they recommend going as small as 3cubes.

sending more power to the sub means the power is spread accordingly

across the frequencies...therefore it shouldnt be a problem unless your cranking the volume to the max

also i think you should try the 2 songs i suggested if you're not pleased with the lows there then something is really wrong....White Girl has a lot of different frequencies jumping in the track which annoys me at times specially when i hear my roof rack rattle 1/2 in the song...i think my bass dropped all off a sudden

he says he can't hit the 30hz range.. and he has stated he doesn't have a lows setting on his h/u..

Forgot to mention that I have plenty of cutting tools if you want to fit a bigger box in there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

ive had the manual for the past 2 hours man i cant find anything about a "lows" setting.. there isnt one i dont think..

heres exact words from my manual: Crossover NF adjustment (X-OVER NF)- sets the frequency for non-fader (sub-woofer)

then it gives me two options

Upper: PASS

Lower: ON

i put it on "ON" and in the manual it says i should be picking up 20Hz and above

ya but like i said nick told me 3.5 cubes would be optimal.. and 3.25 is just off from that..

theres gotta be something im missing.. im watching vids on youtube and my car doesnt hit the lows like their cars do

if your rear view fell off then you are loud enough, why would you say the lows are almost non existant? But anyway, go make the video if you will.
