Adjusting my amp to allow my sub to hit lows better

ok i was right.. my sub isnt hitting the low lows in songs.. my subsonic is set 10 below my box tuning which is 33.. so subsonic is at 23-25.. my lowpass at 80... what else could be wrong.. i doubt its my box..
sub is a 15" IA LI powered by a hifonics 1208d

it also doesnt hit lows when i turn the gain down
do you have an Equalizer curve option on your head unit ?

Check the EQ on your head unit, and measure the box and the port... it could be the box was designed wrong. Other than that, I'm not really sure what "not hitting lows" mean. Does it lose output? Or does it just not get louder as it gets lower?
ya basically once i get to the lows i get almost no output.. when it gets to the lows its as if that part of the song doesnt even have bass

on my hu i have the settings: mid/bass/treb/bal-fade/loudness/non-fader/svc

i dont think any of those affect how my sub hits the lows

sure you dont got it on highpass? lol jk

but how low are you talking about actually?

and can that sub handle that power without the sub sonic filter? only use them when needed

What unit is it?

car.. sub location/direction? also with that sub sonic filter set at 25ish, you're losing about 2 db's at your tuning freqency so you know.. (Assuming its a 12 d/b slope) and more even below it...
also how low are you talking about.. you should be hitting 32hz alright.. but a ported box has a very steep drop... so if youre talking really low... then that might be why

edit: what kind of headunit?
i tried white girl/soul survivor/put on... they are all 31-32 hz at the lowest and its not hitting them..

and also its somewhat hard to tell where my subsonic is at just looking at the dial thats why i said 23-25.. id have to really pay attention but when i was out there adjusting it i was just trying to get the lows to work and they just never did.

your lows option on the HU will dramatically increase the 45 htz range when turning it up. What are your "lows" at now. I'm gonna guess around 0 just for the hell of it. You need to turn them up higher, like maybe to 4 or 5.

is one of those my lows option? i dont think i have one for my HU

if you dont know exactly what your sub sonic filter is at turn it off, or as low as psosible before your subs bottom out...

you can set it right using a dimm, run a test tone of the freqency you want it set at.. multiply the voltage you get with it set flat by (.707).. and that answer is what you should get when adjusting the subsonic filter

and try measuring the box you got and putting the measurements at winisd or a simiar program to make it sure its tuned right...

is it possible my sub is already bottomed out? it hits real heavy on other bass just not the lows

Film the sub on low notes.
yeah, put in some white girl or three 6 mafia and sit in your car and let us see how much the rear view mirrors move. It usually is the best indicator that the low lows are hitting well or not. Cuz it should vibrate quite a bit.
