Adjusting my amp to allow my sub to hit lows better

ok my sub is not hitting lows.. 15" ia li powered by a hifonics 1208d at 2 ohms.. box is tuned at 33 hz at 3.25-3.5 cubes. subsonic is at 23-25, lowpass 80..

everything else hits really hard.. but when it gets to the lows almost nothing happens

I believe we just had a gain conversation in the other thread. You need to set them textbook style yourself or get an installer to do it, THEN listen to your system, THEN come back and post your complete setup including enclosure type and settings, and THEN if this is a box tuning issue other people here with a better understanding of these things may be able to help you.

It could just be that your gains are wrong and your sub volume isn't increasing in as linnear of a manner as the rest of your system or it could be something else.

i think its just the songs im listening to.. im getting confused as to where theres bass and where there isnt.. sorry for the abundance of stupid threads lately ill stop now

had the same issue with my last setup, re-built my enclosure with a lower freq. and it evened it out, i lost some of the peakyness, but gained a huge amount on the lows...
ya i just burned late night tip, soul survivor, and white girl onto a cd.. ill know for sure now if im hitting lows or not.. my box is tuned for 33hz and i had my subsonic set at about 23-25.. so theres no reason i shouldnt hit lows

Also why tuning gains by ear isn't a great idea if you haven't done it a bunch of times and know exactly what to listen for.

ok i was right.. my sub isnt hitting the low lows in songs.. my subsonic is set 10 below my box tuning which is 33.. so subsonic is at 23-25.. my lowpass at 80... what else could be wrong.. i doubt its my box..

sub is a 15" IA LI powered by a hifonics 1208d

it also doesnt hit lows when i turn the gain down

car.. sub location/direction? also with that sub sonic filter set at 25ish, you're losing about 2 db's at your tuning freqency so you know.. (Assuming its a 12 d/b slope) and more even below it...

also how low are you talking about.. you should be hitting 32hz alright.. but a ported box has a very steep drop... so if youre talking really low... then that might be why

edit: what kind of headunit?

Check the EQ on your head unit, and measure the box and the port... it could be the box was designed wrong. Other than that, I'm not really sure what "not hitting lows" mean. Does it lose output? Or does it just not get louder as it gets lower?
