A little car audio history...

Its crazy how the innovators pave the way with quality amps named Lanzar, crunch and hifonics. Then it all gets sold east and then buyers continue to buy crap with confidence.

Most of you guys probably know everything about this guy but I found this to be too awesome so I'll go ahead and post it anyway. It explains and bust a lot of myths on car audio.
Zed also said that full range class D had NO place in the automobile. Care to guess what topology the KRONOS and LEVIATHAN are?

Steve mantz is the man!!!
I beg to differ... I've used ONE Mantz product since 1989 and I will NEVER knowingly use another.

I love me some ZED amps.

Don't get me wrong, he made some rock solid products over the years. I just can't stand Mantz as a person because he constantly contradicts himself and will try to sell one on modifications that are unnecessary when sending something in for repair. Other than that, his old school designs have stood the test of time and he did have a sense of humor when looking at some of his old circuit boards.

contradiction not found...

"So what is required are amplifiers that use the available electrical power more efficiently

BUT with no loss of fidelity or power. Several options are available. Class B amplifiers are

notoriously inefficient due to the fact that they are linear devices and in their traditional form

waste about 70-80% of the power supplied to them as heat. Class A amplifiers do not even

think about for mobile use as their efficiency is even worse. So what options are available?

Class D is the one of them. For most audio buffs, class D has been given a bad rap owing to

the rash of really bad class D amplifiers which have been introduced to the mobile market

over the years. There are several reasons why these amplifiers sounded bad and were

unreliable. The bad sound was due to the fact that the designers/copycats had no idea on

how a class D amplifier functions. The reliability was due to bad design and almost zero

knowledge of class D amplifiers.

This technology has made leaps and bounds over the past 5 odd years. New semiconductor

devices have become available as well as a better understanding of this type of amplifier."
