A few type r q's

I have a 12"type r with the same rms rateing as the 10". I have the kicker 750.1 amp with a birthsheet of 870watt rms which I am feeding my type r and have no problems what so ever. So gain setting on your amp can easily be turned full. Like others said just watch your volume control and listen for distortion or smell.

For a few dollars more ,Alpine has a new amp for about $260 or so online--the M1000.That way,if you ever want to run 2-'R's at 500 rms you can. It's no PDX1000.1,but it will do fine for the time being.Gives you some options.

Gain is not a volume knob, read the tutorial stickied in the amp section, I hope this guy does not set up his buddies systems.

Check out the kicker 750.1 and let us know how it goes with twice the power.

i despise factory speakers. except in my friends mustang....he's got a 8" sub in each door panel and it actually sounds extremely well (but, this is a new mustang, and im pretty sure he requested it...).

ive been running 2 type r 12s 4 quite some time now and they took 1200 watts each pretty well but had a little distortion & seemed 2 be being overpowered a bit..right now im running 850 to each and they sound perfect..having tried both amounts of power id recommend stayin in the 800-1k range.. but thats just me

the 15" r's will take more power than the 12's and the 12's will take more power than the 10's.

they all use different motors/coils. IIRC the 15's use a 3" coil while the 10's/12's use a 2.5" coil.

There is no point to feeding one of the 10" woofers more than 800 watts in a daily application.

The 10's and 12's have the same motor/rating of 500W and are there's only a $20 or so difference in price. The 15's cost a bit more and are rated for 750W.

the 10's and 12's don't share motors.IIRC the 12's is 20 oz larger... they do share the same power rating.
Maybe you're right, but I don't see the magnet size listed on their site. I also thought that the coils for the 10's and 12's are 2in and the 15's are 2.5in?
