Hey guys. I've got a few random questions that I'd like answered. See if you can help me out.. thanks in advance.

1: I have a 96amp alt. in my 1990 Sierra. I dont think this is going to cut it when I get my new amp (1200+ watts, class D). I've heard about rewinding, but not exactly sure what that is. Should I replace it, rewind it, or do I need anything at all? I dont have ANY problems right now at all with dimming or anything (expect for one time when I was playing some Korn... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)

2: I'm getting 2 10" eD K's (650RMS), in a ported box. Would the JBL1200.1 be good or should I get something smaller? I'm mainly wanting the JBL because of the physical size, since the amp has to go under my seat. Any suggestions... please

3: I have a GMC, so I have those really crappy and small terminal things that hook up to my battery. I was wondering if I could replace those with some higher quality cables and terminals, what are a different kind, so hooking up my power wires will be easier. I'm also wanting to put in a red top battery eventually.. when the funds can handle it.

4: Since my truck is really small, I have my subs behind my seat. The subs are loud as hell inside the truck, but you can barely hear them outside of it. I know some people think that this is a good thing, but I want to be able to show my system off to my friends. I was wondering if the seat was like, dampening ALL of my sound or something. And is it bad for the subs to hit the back of the seat when they flex?

Sorry it's so long, I just didn't want to make a bunch of seperate posts. Thanks again for the help.

I can help you out on a few of them...

It is much cheaper to get the alt. rewound than it is to replace it. If you haven't even put in the 1200W amp and you are having dimming light problems playing Korn then you should definitely do something. Ideally you should wait until everything is in and see how it works. You may not need to.

You probably won't get much sound out of the truck the way you have it configured. The subs definitely should not actually hit the back of the seat. It's only a matter of time before they become damaged. I would get a new box made that either fires the subs up or to the side. You'll get more sound outside of the car if you do that. Any config I've ever seen that had the subs aimed right at the seat never sounded as loud as those who had the subs aimed into free air. Some might disagree, but this is just my personal experience. The seat probably isn't dampening the sound, but it may be blocking the ports. Where is the box ported at?

My lights only dimmed ONCE, on Freak on a Leash during the intro when they play that one SUPER low note. it was awesome //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Other than that, my lights have NEVER dimmed. I am going to the local alternator shop tomorrow to check out rewinding costs.

As for the box... I can't make a box that will fit, and fire the subs up or to the side. If I do, I'd have to get like 8" subs, and that just wont cut it. My box is 8in deep on the bottom, and 4 at the top, so theres really no room. It is 57in long, and 16in high. The subs dont actually HIT the seat, but they are close enough to them that the surround rubs against the back just a little... but I havn't noticed any kind of damage yet, except where a piece of string got inbetween one sub and the seat, and it put a little dent in the surround. My box isn't ported yet. My new box for the Ks will be ported on the sides. My only choice is to put my subs behind my seat, firing into the seat. I'm too poor to afford a good quality locking bed cover.

As long as the ports themselves do not fire directly into the seats you should be fine. To the side, or top even, is the right ticket. Good luck!
