99 Taurus install (pics)

pull everything out and start over.

Truer words have never been spoken,...

After reading everyone's suggestions I'm going to put some 4ga wire in there. I have a few questions about doing that though. How should I go about getting the wire from the battery to my trunk? Right now I have it running up the side down the door and I have it going into the car underneath the little rubber tube that you can see when you open the door and from there it goes to the trunk under the carpet. Another question is when I crimp the wire is it going to fit into my amp?
I think I'm also going to try to come up with something to mount the amp on my box or the fold down back seats not sure which one yet I'm going to look into that more.

After thinking about moving my RCA jack so it's apart from my power wire I realized that I have my power wire and RCAs running to the truck together anyways so would that defeat the purpose of moving it? Also would it be a good idea to try and run the RCAs around the passenger side instead of the drivers side with the power wire?

Look under the driver side of the dash, usually around where the steering wheel yoke goes through the firewall, there are wires already going through the firewall that you can feed your 4 gauge through. I know which way you did it before and I have done it like that in the past, and its a big fire risk. Do it correctly the first time and everything should be fine.

Its always a mix bag with the RCA/power wire deal, some say keep them as far apart as possible, others say it doesnt matter. Personally, I try to keep them apart to elimate the chance for noise in the system. But its up to you.

The wire should fit, you could get a 4 gauge kit with a distrubtion block that has 8 gauge in it, I dont know how the Power/Ground connections look on your amp, but Im pretty sure 8 gauge should fit.

I would run the power and ground down one side (driver side is the easiest for me normally) and the RCA's down the passenger side.

It really is a good idea to switch to the 4ga.

is it like 10g right now?

suggestion- run the wires under the carpet in the trunk???

Also, pull your seat out, and run everything straight through to the back.. It will be easiest, and look best, and leave you with the most wire to work with.

I'm going to be ordering this amp kit soon. http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX-AK4

That should take car of my wiring problem.

I have a few questions though.

I want to put in some tweeters there seems to be a stock place for them but I don't know how to get to it and I also have no idea how to wire them up do I just run them to the RCAs on the back on my HU?

I also though about putting a good midbass speaker in front of the center console under the ashtray any input on doing that?

Are your subs playing voices? If so, lower the amps crossover. They are only for bass.

As for your previous posts, scratch those ideas. You cannot just add tweeters to a system without the propper crossover to block the frequencies that the speaker can't play. You also cannot just add a midbass speaker to the center console and expect the sound to stay stereo. Your best best is to pick up a nice component system that will replace your factory tweeters and midrange/midbass that is in the door. To save money you can run them off of the headunit for now, but they'll ideally sound better by being amped. The good thing is, since you are already running the 4ga. kit, you won't need much else to amp them later.

Welcome to the sport.

Look under the dash on the firewall and look for wires that run through, usually you can manuever your wire into holes that are already in the firewall. Sometimes you will have to make your own hole. Another question is when I crimp the wire is it going to fit into my amp?4 gauge should fit your amp, if it doesnt, you can trim it or use a reducer.

If you arent experiencing any odd noises/interferences, I wouldnt worry about it... But since you are already running new wire, might as well do it on the other side.
