80gb Ipod Questions

I just got a new 80gb Ipod Classic and need some help. I have already transfered all of my music to the ipod, but I want to delete all of the mp3's off of my computer so I will have more space on the hard drive. If I delete all of the music on the computer will everything stay the same on the ipod when I sync it up with the computer even if the itunes library is empty? If this works, how do I get music from the ipod back to the computer? I really don't want any music on my desktop computer just taking up space. That's the reason I bought the ipod so I can put all of my music on it.

there should have been something that said do you wish to autosync your songs when you installed it. if you clicked yes then as soon as you plug in your ipod all the songs will disappear because there isn't any in your library. if you clicked no then your straight. you should be able to switch it in options or something

yep, on the left side column on itunes ,click "devices".

Ok. I just went in perferences and put a check mark in "disable all automatic syncing for all iphones and ipods" Are you saying by doing this even if itunes library is empty that everything will remain the same on the ipod?

I'm talking about deleting from hard drive completely. If I delete from itunes the music is still on the hard drive, you just won't see it in itunes. I already know how to remove stuff from itunes so it doesn't show up on the ipod. I guess I just have to try to delete a few albums and sync up with the ipod and see if those I deleted from the computer are still on the ipod.

leave everything on the ipod and itunes, plug in ipod, click on ipod on left, go to bottom and check manually manage music, click ok when asks if you are sure. Now it will never add or delete songs from the ipod on it's own, you must drag/delete yourself. You're welcome:D
