Is there any rule that that one side needs to be smaller then the other???

Most Ive seen and heard have the side with the sub smaller(back chamber)then the front chamber.

Is there a rule to this?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

1.1 back section per=2.2 combined ported

2.3 front section ported

Is there anything wrong with going larger on the Back sections.L7s seem to like larger ported and graphin the lowend really wakes up giving it more air that way.

Ie:

2.6 back

2.9 front

Mine:

3.3 back

2.9 front

About 2 db difference down low end under 60 hz down to 30hz

personally

i would go with the kicker recommended 4th order bandpass

they told me they dont recommend the 6th order..i never got a reason they just said the L7's will perform better in 4th order

but if u want to try 6th order

the rear chambers are very small i would do 2 cubes ported per 12 playing into atleast 4 cubes common ported front chamber

About what I had.

Dont know if I have that much room though.

Came up with:

1.6 per tuned to 36

into 3.6 tuned 80 with 80 square and looks ok.

I was really wonderin if there was some rule about the back chamber being really big and the front small, but guess not.

I know with 4th the front seems to be the booster, but with 6th it looks like the rear chamber has more to do with output then the front in most all cases, but to a point of course.

this is y alot of people dont like bandpass boxes..it needs a big box

especially 6th order...with 6th order u need 3 big ported chambers

with 4th order its alittle more forgiving

i've designed 4th orders thats had .8cubes sealed playing into 1.2 cubes ported.....and that was 4 1 L712...did it get loud....hell yea...it was able to take 1500 with no problem....did it hit the lows well.....it did its job but if u played 20hz..u will get a serious excursion clip cuz it will be trying its best to produce that note....but on rap it worked wonders....but not to get off topic...the front chamber determinds how efficient the box is going to be....but the wierd pat about the front chamber...the smaller the widder the passband will get..it wont be as efficient but it will have a wider passband

so this is y u have to have a balance...get big sealed or ported rear chambers and have the subs play into a big ported chamber and u will have good low end extention and high output
