Yes, I like the SymbiLink and all, but Zapco's are real hardcore bulletproof amps. They send a super clean signal, even in unbalanced, to your speakers, giving a cleaner ound and longer life to the speakers. Remeber, DISTORTION will blow a speaker, not RMS power!!!

Reference line from Zapco is the best value, quality/dollarwise. There are about 3 or 4 other comanies out there just as good, I just like Zaps outstanding tech support and those SymbiLink connections. Otherwise Arc, Truamps, etc. are up there.

Thanks, which tube driver blue would you get and how would you configure it. Any thoughts on subs (Focal 33wx or for half the $ 33V2 possibly?).

As you can tell I am a big Focal believer. You can't go wrong with Focal, they are an established force in the SQ world and they sound absolutely fantastic. I would walk away from the Utopias though. For the money, the K Powers sound as good, image as good and don't cost nearly as much. I do like the Utopia Adiom Tweeter so if you can get those, you won't be sorry. I have the 33V2 and it is an unbelievable sub! Very much worth the money! I listened to the WX and wasn't that impressed. It seemed to take much more power to get clarity out of it.

My K2P's are bi amped with Audison LRx2.150's and they sound awesome!

I have nearly 900w going to the 33v2 and it really humps at that amount.

BTW...my system cost nearly 6k including installation. Good luck with yours

only by product of distortion that can blow a speaker is a clip to the degree it produces more power to destroy a speakers vc. rms power of the amp if too great can still cause a speaker to have a thermal melt down depending on the speaker. unless you are talking about clean power to the speakers rms power rting.

I sure hope its not your Zap dealers feeding you that misinformation.....not flattering on their behalf, very 'sales pitchy'.....

Zapco's sell themselves based on reputation and build quality, not marketing BS....

I was pretty much exactly what Lajit was in 2 months ago until I spent about 200 hours researching. I wanted a SQ system but i listen to mostly rap, hiphop'n rnb. So I've now got the following, TO BE INSTALLED hah

in 98 2dr integra

HU: Eclipse 8445

Fronts: Focal Utopia 165w

Subs: 2 Focal Utopia 38wx 15" ported

Amps: McIntosh 431 for fronts

Audison VRX 2.400 for the Utopia subs

$500 worth of wiring for big 3 and bout that much worth of dampening

i wish i had this much input about my system! hah

was almost thinking about selling the Focal subs and going JL W7 with JL 1000/1 amp to see what it sounds like i dunno

and putting some 8" mids.

horns have always been an idea but seem a bit pricey.

still dunno where i'm goign to place the Utopia mids and tweets. i mean Mid in the kickpanel at the pedals and tweeter in the apillar? or in the kick panel too? so many options!

You guys do realize that Zapco isn't the only amp company that makes balanced inputs, right? Just off the top of my head I believe Xtant and McIntosh both have balanced inputs. Denon and McIntosh decks also have the balanced outputs.

Not to badmouth Zapco, I own one and I'm running a completely balanced setup from an 8250 to it.

To the original poster, my plan when I graduate college and have a million dollars (all going in my audi a4)

McIntosh 6 channel amp. The first 4 channels bridged to run my front stage. Last two channels bridged to run eith my Stereointegrity 12 or a new rs-audio 10 (just for consistency)

McIntosh 406 head unit/ MX 4000 DAC

Zapco EQs/X-Overs

RS-Audio Pro Speakers for front stage, no rear fill

Stereo Integrity 12" or RS-Audio 10" sub

Dedicated RS-Audio midbass mounted in the front of the car

Extremely sound deadened
