5000spl need help ???

i installed the 5000spl sub in a 2.38 ft^3 ported box and had it powered by two nakamichi m/b amps pa-8001 brigded, rms 2000@2ohms ?? it sounded BAD, not loud at all, the 12" pioneer sub ,tssw124 sounded much louder and boomier with kenwood 400 watts than the spl,,, need your help, is there something iam missing.the ports dia is 4"x9" flared ends, box dia d 12xw 21.5xh 16" ,v/c @2ohm

first of all i dont think you have enough volume or port area for that sub but i dont knwo what pioneer recommends for vol.

explain mroe abotu the amp.. im not really familiar with it. youy say bridged but then you say 2000@2ohms.. if it was a 2 channel (cause you cant bridge a mono amp) then its highest rated power would usually come at 4 ohms, but then again with that much power tis possible they built each channel to hold a one ohm load.. thats why i would liek to knwo more abotu the amp. also is each amp 2000@2ohms?

also what is the voice coil config on the sub? and how do you have it wired (series or parallel)

U have a serious proplem,That is suppose to one bad a$$ sub,No than like the constrution of ur box,I dont know anything about ur amp either.

yeah thats why i was saying tell me more abotu the amp cause i knwo its possible for a higher end 2 channel to have a low bridged rating but usually the rating is at 4 ohms..

basically i was just trying to figure out if he was saying it was a mono or 2 channel cause he used the word bridged.

Twistid,here in the gulf life is easy and relaxed,you can get away with few things,

AndonD454, the nakamichi amps are monoblock amp which is rated as follow

400x1@4 , 800x2@2 , 1000x1@1 (each amp) and in brigding two you get

800x1@8 , 1600x1@4 , 2000x1@2 , and the min ohm load for the amps are 1ohm, in brigding two amps you run one as master and the second as slave ( master slave switch on the amps) with an 8 ga wire connecting the amps thru the - ch ,,,it is simple and easy setup. the sub has 2x4ohm v/c, connected in parallal for 2ohm.also , recomended ported box vol for the sub by the factory is 2ft^3 with 4"x8" port, the reason iam running 9" long is bcs iam using precision port flared and the say to add 1" to required length.

the sealed vol is 1.5ft^3, iam thinking of trying the sub in a seald box.

KnOkIn It 420, the box is made out of 1" mdf glued and sealed with the dim of

12dx16hx21.5w( alittle over the rec size ) which it comes to 2.38 ft^3 with a port tunning to 36hz, the factory did not mention if the 2ft^3 includes the drivers and the port vol or not,,,

well sounds liek the basic stuff is covered.. might want to check the settings both on the head unit and amp (more importantly amp). make sure sub level is adjusted correctly, bass level, etc. make sure SSF isnt up too high, LPF isnt too low, make sure both RCAs are connected at the HU and at the amp, make sure the gain is set correctly with a DMM or o-scope if you have access.

what is the rms on those subs? and what do you mean by it sounds shitty? is that just in terms of output or liek does the bass sound bad? if so how would you describe it?

Might wanna see if you wired the coils out of phase...

Or is it a SVC? im not very familiar with these
