Hi, new to the forum and was wondering what y'all guys think. I have in mind of 4 12s ab tnts or one incriminator death penalty 18 or some thing similar (ab hd, hdc3, hdc4) in 18. I recently got a explorer so I can fit either of the 2 systems. I currently have a Ss rubi 1600.1 I could get another one and strap for the 12's or I could use it for a break in amp for a 18 and sell it for a larger amp later. My question is will the 12's be as loud or hit as low as the 18. Iv only had small single sub systems and it's time to take up a notch. Last stock eletrical will be getting big 3 done and group 65 in front here soon and Maby a 31 in rear. Thanks in advance

id go 1 18 that way later on down the road if you wanna get stupid loud you can add another one and have 2 18s

I forgot which ever I choose will be in a ported box sorry just trying to give all the info I can for the best advice. thank you

nothing like massive 18s displacing massive amounts of air though, 4 12s would be pretty hard hitting though no doubt
actually man, 4 12s displaces almost as much air as 2 18s via cone area.

area of 4 12s = 452 required box size = 8 - 10 cubic feet net

area of 2 18s = 508 required box size = 12 to 16 cubic feet net

Just for a wildcard

area of 6 12s = 678 required box size = 12 to 15 cubic feet net

Technically with 6 12s, you can get way louder and displace more air than 2 18s with the same amount of space. Drawback is costs per woofer is expensive along with heavy total motor weight.

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone have any experience with the american bass tnts. Do y'all have any other suggestions. I can find the tnts 130 shipped

what would you go with? or suggest he go with

its an explorer, he can fit some 18s nicely in there id go with 2 18s also but his option was 1 18 or 4 12s, id lean more towards the 18 what do you think a lot of nutz? your choice man

18 if he's short on cash. 4 12s if he wants to get loud with little regards to cash. Might be less until we know how much airspace he really has. If this is a trunk then lol....

I say 4 12's.

But that's me and I love me some multiple sub set ups.

That 1 18 should be good plus room leftover for amp(s) and extra batteries.
