3 way Crossover

I was considering adding this to my current setup. I have a Premier 690UB head unit. I wanted to get the Clarion 3 way crossover. My amps are currently a zx 650.4 and a Brutus 1600.1d. I know there are crossover settings on my amps as well as my HU, but i cannot get them set correctly. I can get the clarion for ~45-60 bucks. Is there any advantage to getting a crossover such as this? Or is the HU crossover settings equal to these? All of my speakers are Premiers if that makes any difference 3 ways in the front and 4 ways in the back.

yes its always better to add a active crossover to a system with sept. amps. are u the guy that let sound master do yory installs????

Don't your speakers already have xovers? Unless you plan on running active I see no real advantage. HP the speaker amp at 80-100Hz, so the mids won't distort. LP the sub amp at 80Hz and you're done.

Burn some test tones and spend a little time getting it dialed in.

i believe the D series has the crossovers built in.

The 690 allows you to adjust the HP/LP filters as well as a lot of other things, but some people swear by the crossover and some say you dont need it if you have a decent HU. My thing was would it eliminate words from my subs and bass from my highs. not sure if I'm saying it right.

Exactly, you have all you need in either the HU or the amps. Set them as I suggested and you'll be fine...

all you really need that crossover for is the 5v ourput, which is really good, and some extra bass boost around a certain frequency, otherwise your HU and amp shold already hav th same settings. This one is also good if ur running subs on one amp, midranges on one amp, and tweeter on one amp

id go with the coustic xm6(39$ on ebay), or if u really wanna get detailed, go for the coustic xm7

5v output is totally overrated and unneeded. Correctly set gains make it pointless. You do not need to add any more components. Just use what you have. mlstrass gave you a good starting point. Either use the crossovers in your amps or the one in your HU.
