2ohm speakers off HU power

I saw on woofersetc that Infinity has some 2ohm coax speakers. My friend doesnt want to buy an amp but wants to upgrade from stock. Will these speakers run well off of HU power. can running 2ohm speakers off HU power damage the HU?

I have only noticed 4ohm stable headunits.

will running those speakers force the HU into 2 ohm though. if it is wired normally wont it still run at 4ohm??? I thought I read somewhere that this could work. Since it is a 2 ohm speaker and i will be sending it a 4 ohm load wont it theoretically double the power being sent to them????

Doesnt work that way. The speaker present the load to the amp. So a 2 ohm load would be a 2 ohm load. The question is can your deck handle a 2 ohm load. Doubt it.

Probably true. Would you take the chance on your 350 deck, when you can just buy a 4 ohm speaker?

It will be FINE. But stay away from Infinity, harsh tweeters.

Ive had Infinitys, nothing an eq cant fix...

We sell Infinitys at our store and yes you can. They did alot of testing before putting these speakers on the market. If you go to the infinity website it tells all about it. We've done several cars this way with no problems.

Yes it does, they do have a little more volume than a 4 ohm and they sound extremly good. I sell more infinity than anything else i stock.
