2ohm or 4ohm subs

If I'm running a mono amp and I want it to carry a 2ohm load with two DVC subs, do I need 4ohm subs or 2ohm subs? Or does it even matter since they're dual voice coil subs?

Yes, it matters. To get a final 2 ohm load from 2 DVC subs, they need to be dual 2 ohm subs. However, is the amp not 1 ohm stable? For most bang for the buck, people generally run stuff at 1 ohm.

I'm not sure if it's 1ohm stable or not. It's a kicker cx1200.1 amp

Generally speaking, for SQ applications, running at a higher resistance should be better, however, it is also more expensive. The amp operates more efficiently at a higher resistance and has an increased damping factor. If you already have that amp, use it.

Keep the amp you already have and buy this guys subs. He is an oustanding guy and his subs will match up perfectly with your amp
