do you have a ho alt or a stock one?if its stock it'll be fine...
Blah blah blah you'll never pop the 250 unless you've got a short.it will work until you can get a 300A, pending the kind of wire. Who makes the wire?
It does. You always want to underfuse rather than overfuse, unless you like fires.Stock Alt, but I was told the type of alt doesnt change anything, its the size of the wire that matters for the fuse.
Don't listen to this guy, he either has no idea what he's saying or he's just trying to be a smartass. What would be the purpose of putting in a fuse under the necessary rating? It does. You always want to underfuse rather than overfuse, unless you like fires.
wasn't there just a thread a week ago about some one having a 250a fuse melting and smoking on 0g wire under normal load?Blah blah blah you'll never pop the 250 unless you've got a short.
Just curious as to why you wouldnt need a fuse on a competition setup? wouldnt you want it in case you get a short?.Don't listen to this guy, he either has no idea what he's saying or he's just trying to be a smartass. What would be the purpose of putting in a fuse under the necessary rating?
The only thing that changes with a HO alt compared to a Stock alt is the amperage output. If your going to run 0 ga wire to your big 3 then you need to add a 300 amp fuse, thats close to what a 0 ga wire is rated for, a 350 amp fuse wouldn't hurt but it's not necessary. If your planning to do competitions then skip the fuse, but if your just building up your street system then play it safe and add the fuse.
Read his sig, he's only running 850wwasn't there just a thread a week ago about some one having a 250a fuse melting and smoking on 0g wire under normal load?
Run the 250. You'll be fine.So 250A fuse won't work? I NEED 300?
Basicly, with a stock alt will that wire ever be seeing more than 250A, I don't think so, so in my mind 250 is fine...Is that bad logic?
