2500.1 Questions

I've got 2 kicker 2500.1's and one is hooked up to power 2 of the 4 l7 15"s i have in my focus. Problem is when the voulmes up, the amp will cut out completly. Im guessing its a voltage problem due to the factory alt and battery but thing is, I cant get an upgraded alt for my 2001 focus. I asked around and from what I hear it doesnt seem like they are made.

what should i look for other then a ground issue for the reasoning of it cutting out? its not the impedence I know that for sure because that kicker amp can do just about anything you throw at it.

anyone else got any reasons or things i should check on why the amps shuttin off? i thought maybe a bad ground but that wasnt the case.

those amps are regulated power supply, so rather than getting less and less output, they will just cut off if there's not enough voltage/amperage to make power within the supply's tolerances

I was told that those kicker amps will cut out if they are ran under the minimum ohm load.

no dude these amps can go as low as .5 ohm.

No, they can't.

I would be cautious running them for 1 ohm daily. It MAY do .5 just for burps/competition purposes, but they are NOT designed to run at .5 daily.

im not runnin em daily like that

i just know they will take that low of an impedence and still stay reliable. there was a dude on here running one daily to a L7 10" at .9

.9 is a world of difference from .5, especially for daily.

yea the only option i would have would be to run them at .9 i have 2 dual 2ohm 15's

the wiring at the amp is 2 ohms and as for the voltage it drops to 10 volts with a bass hit.

You definatly have an electrical system problem...Fix that and your amps are fine. Dropping down to 10V is crazy...I have about 1800 RMS (I know not as much as you) but with full volume a bass line will only drop my voltage down to 14.8 from 15.
