Mean machine 2500.1D cutting in and out when tapped

I’ve been having a problem with my Mean Machine 2500.1D amp turning off one day when driving it turned off before I parked so I got out and wiggled all the wires and the light stayed green it never goes into protection mode, but when I give it a good smack it turns back on and you can here a sort of clank sound coming from the amp when it turned on I gave it another smack just to check and it turned back off making my subs stop getting power. What I don’t get is why does the green light stay on if maybe the amp has some sort of connector or solder loose.

Older amplifers should be re-capped somewhere along the decades of use/abuse that is normal for any long lived amplifier. If its been run within its impedance limits I'd wager some failure at the board. Connections can degrade over time man.

I would remove the amplifier from the vehicle and pull the back panel off of it. Look for anything obvious like burnt spots or cracked solder joints. Or a cracked circuit board. If it’s not obvious and easy to fix on your own, then the amplifier is junk. The repair bill from an electronics shop would be higher than the price of a new amplifier of the same or better quality.
