Hello guys I have been stalking here for a while trying to learn. I have a 2001 Camry LE and I plan on upgrading components over the next few months. As of now everything is bone stock. I am settled on a few things and others I need a little help with.

HU: DEH-P780MP

Pioneer GEX-P920XM XM Satellite Radio Tuner

Pioneer CD-IB100ii iPod® Interface Adapter

Is there any technical difference in the 7800 and 780 other than the 780 is "premiere" and has an extra year warranty?

My main questions come in the speaker department. I have narrowed it down to a few 6 1/2" co-axial models. I really wanted to keep my speaker spending below $200 if at all possible.

Front:

Pioneer TS-D701P (Rev's)

Boston S65RC

Rear:

Not a flippin' clue! (Could I just leave it stock and run it off the HU since the rears' are not all that important anyway?

Crutchfield is telling me that the rev's will not fit in the front doors of my car. I wanted to try and keep the stock grill covers over the speakers if at all possible. I am wondering if the rev's have enough clearance from that center tweeter to the back of the grill cover. Anybody have any experience with this???

I wanted to try and squeeze some bass out of the front speakers so the Boston's may be out of the picture.

Oh, I have an older Punch 150 a2 75x2 for power. I just need to make sure it still works. If not, I can always pick up a Profile pretty cheap.

keep the punch amp, at least it's better than profile lol

if the amp doesn't work look into a orion, or pheonix gold or zed audio

http://audiojunkies.com/product_detail.php?cid=180&product_id=220

anyways, i would save a bit more and get a rainbow audio slc component system for around 220-240 shipped, they are far better than the coaxials you listed...

or

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4418

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1090

both great bang for the buck speakers...

also don't buy from crutchfield, try woofersetc.com or sonicelectronix.com, or onlinecarstereo.com, a lot cheaper and very reliable places to buy. Crutchfield sells at close to msrp... great service though... if you want rainbow stuff pm 6spdcoupe, he can get you the stuff

you should just run the rears on the stock hu, they should be about 10% of the volume of the fronts so you wont notice much difference between the stock crap and aftermarket....

and go with the premier p880prs, less bling, more performance...

I've got a 2000 camry LE, and I'm going to upgrade my front stage ( to Rainbow CS 265 Profi's ) soon. So you're not getting tweeters? I'm a bit confused because you said your getting coaxes but then you mentioned tweeters infront of your speakers? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I think I'm going to pillar mount my tweeters, not sure yet.

I kept looking at the component systems but just thought they woould be a PITA to try and set the tweeters, not to mention you def. need an amp for it to sound right. (Are those ext. crossovers a biiiotch to find a place to mount???) My car has tweeters mounted on the door where it meets the dash. They look smaller than the aftermarket components so mounting them in the factory slot looks to be futile. That is why I opted for just 2 front 6 1/2 co-axials pushed with my 2-way punch 150.

I know the component system is the way to go, but I don't plan on having this car for more than a year or two and hate to invest all this time and money in it. Now when I get out of school and finally get that dream truck I want, then I will drop the wad on it and we can talk about components all day.

Crutchfield just dropped the price on the 7800 to $319. That includes free shipping, and all my mounting hardware. I thought it was pretty hard to beat considering it has a valid 1yr warranty and the 780 or 880 "premiere" line has no authorized net dealers, therefore no valid manufacturers warranty. Plus my console is all black and that silver face on the 880 will stick out like a sore thumb. Not to mention, I like the bling of the 7800. Especially since I can put my own pics on it.

Good catch! I was reffering to what I thought was the tweeter raised from the center of the 6 1/2 rev.

So you are getting tweeters? And if so, you solid on just having them infront of the speakers?

Just wondering, need options for my car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I dont think much changed between the 00 and 01 camry. What color is yours? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Btw - You have a huge trunk, use it hehe

No, No tweeters. I was reffering just to the plastic protrusion on the center of the 6 1/2" rev. It tends to stick up further than it should, so I don't think I could get a flush mount and keep the factory speaker covers.

Mine is silver. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I really have no idea what I should do now as far as speakers are concerned???

NoLimit, will any aftermarket tweeters mount in the factory spot in the Camry. I tried to take my tweeter covers off to see if it was possible, but I couldn't figure how to remove them. If I could mount the aftermarket tweeters there, then I think a component system is a possibility. Where would I put the crossovers though???
