2 type R 12s vs. IXL 18.4...

friend of mine was gonna get two type R's powered by a hifonics 1606d.... when i told him about the IXL 18...

both setups would be ported, the ixl would be getting around 1000 watts (btw... how much power can it really handle?) which would be louder??

If you go with the type R's you realize that with that amp as well you will have the same setup as lots of people. LOTS.

Some people dont care some people do.

Type R's are nice subs though. I dont have experience with the other.

yeah the type r setup isnt original at all, but my friend just wants it to be loud....

If your friend is simply after sheer ear-splitting volume, I would suggest he go with the Type R's. If he wants clarity, decent volumes and powerful lows then the IXL-18 would fit the bill.

1 18 is louder than 2 12's. but having alot of experience with R's, there loud for how cheap they are.

Well, the 12"s atleast. I've never heard 15"s before.

People around town here have even lower quality. I'm not saying Alpine subs are bad quality, just too popular around here and everybody gets the 12"s from BestBuy!!
