2 MJ-18's, 9 cubes net in trunk build

Personally, I would keep working on it with them at there current tuning. You like the lows, and I dont think those subs would be happy with a higher tune. Nor would you, lol.

You know, you're absolutely right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and thats why I spent the last hour with a friend tryin to get the **** thing in, finally got it. Assuming 8.5 cubes net (conservatively) I'll be tuned at 34hz.

Now, I need suggestions on something else. Due to the angle I had to get the ports in at, I have gaps around the ports where they meet the box. As in the 'cutout' is too large basically if that makes sense (which was necessary). What is my best option for filling up to say .75inch gaps between wood on the inside of the box? Assuming it doesn't need to bond anything strongly or anything, its not going to be on any loaded joints, just need to seal relatively large gaps. I was thinking about either expanding foam, since I already bought a few cans, or some kind of hardening caulk? Idk, give me some recommendations, hoping to have this all up and running (minus amp rack being built) by like friday maybe, or at least this weekend

thanks

^^anyone feel free to chime in...is using some kind of caulk or clay or expanding foam not a good idea? Just need to know if it would work, if not, what would

just need to seal up some .1-.75" gaps

You may want to look into/ask what car manufacturers use in the trunk and other places for seals...it seems to be a very hard goop that they use to seal up seems and such, it's rigid and pretty darn hard to do anything to...i can take a pic of it in my trunk if you don't know what im talking about

I'd appreciate a pic, not sure what you're talking about lol

but in concept, is something like this or what you're talking about an okay way to seal a hole sub enclosure? something where using wood is just impractical and unrealistic

^well, unless you take a very sharp knife and press very firmly into it, you can't really move it or do anything to it, you can barely make a mark in it pressing as hard as you can with your thumb nail into it...it would seal a box for sure without a hitch, but the question is will it adhere to mdf...?...

will do, not sure, thats why I'm askin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Foam weather stripping from Home Depot or the like.
Yeah that might work if its a fairly uniform gap.

piczeerrss now!

Maybe a little expanding foam in the gap and then shave it flush and cover it with a bit of fiberglass...?
x2 As long as you dont plan on poppin them out and changing them, not sure if the resin would eat up the foam though. Just somethin to keep in mind.
