haha well, not TOO much new but...got the subs mounted, baffle covered and finished, sides, bottom and baffle glued together. You can see below I used a cardboard template to figure out exactly how the holes are going for my ports, which is probably the hardest part of this whole build, given they have to go through the rear deck in very tight space (because of my rear glass, no room), and be angled into the box, AND make sure they fit without running straight into the subs, meh its workin out so far I'd say.

I've got all my wiring run to the back as you can also see, and it'll all be covered up from the front when i add a couple panels to the sides there, all carpeted in the front too, not sure exactly what I'm going to do with the rear, but carpet won't be easy around the top and sides, well...here are some pics

tune it to 37 or 40hz my mj18 is in 4cu.ft and it was at 31hz 1 6" port

did a new one with 2 6" ports tuned to 43hz and it loves it. it's tuned a Lil to high for me

but at 4cubs your not going to get the right low ind tuned to low 30's

Well now that I have everything in place, and I remeasured everything, I've got right about 9 cubes, maybe a tad less, after all displacements. the lowest I can tune is about 29hz, which will be very difficult to get the ports in at that tuning. I can take off about 5 inches from each tube, and I'll be able to fit them MUCH more easily, which will put me at about 34hz. And then I can go anywhere between 34 and 42hz relatively comfortably, but I can't decide where I want it, maybe some of you can help me out...

basically I'm looking for output, but I want lots of low frequency output too. I need it to be very solid at least down to 30hz, as probably half the music I listen to has hard notes in the 28-34hz range and I love those notes like the low one in white girl, so i really don't want to sacrifice any of those lows. I don't mind having a peak in the response, but if I do, i'd prefer its right about 45hz, maybe a little bit lower, but not higher than 45. Btw my car peaks right around 45hz with subs back, im sure its different with subs forward though, idk.

So I need help from anyone who's ported these before (like you jeremiah) or anyone who wants to model them real quick in winISD and tell me what you'd tune to given what I just said I'm looking for. Mark, feel free to chime in here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Tune low!
That's what I'm thinking, but I'm wondering if its worth it to go a little higher...

After playing with it some more I think I'm kidding myself if I really think I'm going to get in the full tube and get a 29hz tuning, so realistically, the lowest I can tune to is probably 34hz, so I'm thinking I'll go with that, unless someone wants to second what jeremiah said about tuning closer to 40, idk...

Feeling that!

well I decided I'm tuning to 32, which could be as high as 34 theoretically after more bracing, that way even if the box isn't actually quite big enough, i dont end up tuned too high. 9 cubes = 32hz, 8 cubes = 34hz, I'm guessing it'll truly end up in the high 8's, maybe 8.75ish

anyway...i decided i felt like hearing it as it is, with just the flares of the ports in, not even sealed from the trunk, AND the trunk isn't even sealed from the outside...that big *** vent is wide open, and its already louder than i expected it to be in the state its in currently....i'm about half way between freeairing them and having em ported in like 15 cubes, off of maybe 400 watts, and its already moving enough air that it makes a difference when you're breathing...I can't wait to actually have this all done and fully up and running //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

So all of a sudden these ports are giving me hell...i test fitted like 10 times and got them to fit well, and then now after I glued the top of the box on I somehow can't get them to go in...pissin me the fvck off. I already took an extra inch off of them and still can't get them in...so at this point I'm considering just tuning high...should these subs do alright at like 38? (in the 30-32hz range) or should i try and keep em to like 36 if I can...they're already down to 34 and like i said giving me hell as far as fitting them, because of how tight the space up there is with the subs in etc
