2/3/4 way crossover / tweets / mids / adire ?

Heh, sorry for the confusion; I'm posting these in-between (and sometimes during) interviews at work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I picked up the XM7 (crossover) and EQT (equalizers) for the Adire mids, and I'm looking for some tweets to pair up.

I already picked it up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Got the XM7, the EQTs, and a Viper 791vx; I'm psyched.

so not getting horns? how high can those mids play? budget?
I was pretty enamoured with the horns idea, and I haven't followed-up to find out why the dash is a bad idea; I'm assuming it has a lot to do with off-axis response. Then again, I read some things about tweeters in the a-pillar, and utilizing reflections. Also, with the EQTs, I should be able to trim out anything nasty that comes my way. I've been tweeter shopping in my limited spare time, though, and I'm finding that there are some pretty good options to play to 1.8khz

I don't suspect squeak would gimme bad info.

Budget is pretty flexible, my goal is to have the car at 90% cosmetic and audio completion by June. The last 10% will be the paintjob.

I guess $60 for tweets at most.

I've got just about everything else already, incl. glassing supplies and paint, vinyl dye, etc.

Car audio horns are designed to be off-axis with the listener. They are designed with the intention of using the dash as sort of an "extension" of the horn mouth...they have tall vertical dispersion and the sound "rolls up" the dash. This is part of how a high soundstage is acheived with something literally aimed at your shins. On-axis like that, the sound quality would suffer, your ears would bleed, and the soundstage would be screwed up. That's the short of it.

You could still do horns....you'd just have to put them under the dash like 99.999999% of all other horn users //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Squeak would definitely never do such a thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Like I said...check out those Dayton RS tweeters. Large format, but great tweeters.

And you'll never find horns for $60....so if you seriously want to consider them, you'll need to expand your budget some........

I expected $150 or so for horns, but I trimmed it down for the tweets. The comp set for $115 is great, I expected to have to shell out quite a bit more to find what I was looking for.
