nice and clean! hate to say it but ud be louder wit 2 12's or 2 10's

imo 15s are just to big for that trunk. he can go with an smaller sub using less box height so more output can be acheived!

kid look. its not as simple as 'the amount of waves cant get to the front' deal. this is not water in a pipe you are dealing with. there is way more than you can imagine coming into play when talking about speaker\box size.

notice i was talking about going from a pair of sealed 15's to 12's. no mention did i make of ported boxes being louder, because in reality they should be, but you will loose sound quality - which to me is the most important part of a stereo.

the property you are having problems with is phase. not the size of your speakers or the box. when a speaker fires in a trunk, the wave bouncing off the rear wall, and other incident waves will reach the listener at different times causing cancellation and simply less authority. magically when the trunk opens up - somehow the bass gets stronger and yada yada.

you simply have no factual evidence that the 'speaker waves' are blocked by the box and have no personal experience to back up your claim. but this should enlighten you.

its all about the install, not the equipment used kids. so listen to me, i am pretty sure ive been around the block a bit more than you.

im not saying i know what im talkin about, cuz i dont, for the most part, i was just sayin that im not gettin as much bass as a single 12".. and the only reason i could see would be due to the large enclosure...

it would be slightly louder like 1 db since ur not actualy sealing it off, but facing towrds the trunk is better for sq

my civic was louder on the mic as he has it. It also peaked lower as well.

OP u mentioned ported with a pair od kappa perfect..if ported they need a big *** box, 3.2, 3.3 cubic feet, so im not sure if u would stand to gain anything by that(assuming that the big box is the source of your problems)...what kind of power are the subs getting anyways?

and ported will affect accuracy...a lot

using an mrd m605, 600rms at 2ohm..

well im runnin 5.5cubes or so now, so it would be smaller..
