1ohm or 2ohm stable amp more efficient ??

The draw of the amp will usually only exceed the output of the alt either instantaneously with music which isn't that big of a deal(and is pretty easy to do with any size alt with a moderately powered system) or in a sustained situation when playing test tones. Ran several HCCA amps for several years on a stock alt and battery. Stock alt is still going strong and the stock battery lasted 5 years and only had to be replaced because my mother-in-law left the headlights on for over a week while I was out of the country.

In the case instantaneous peaks, adding a second quality battery is the way to go. If test tones are the concern, several alts and lots of batteries are the solution. The normal person doesn't need to concern themselves with the second situation.

I came close to running both my HCCA 225 and HCCA 250 in my 97 Civic, but I am still on the stock alternator. When I get the car back, I will be putting a 25 to Life Punch 150 on the dd1010, but I plan to tune it to deliver 600 watts RMS with a 0 dB 50 Hz tone @ 75% volume.
