18years old living at home

i didn't move out till I 25 when I could support myself and still do all the things I love doing. I coach high school kids and always tell them to save money while you like at home with your parents so when you move out you can stay gone and not have to move back in with your parents after a few years.

I understand and am sorry to hear that. On the other hand my parents are allowing me to stay at home for a little bit seeing how my sister is 25 and still living here(me and her are COMPLETE opposites). Like I said though, I could afford an apartment easily no questions asked, But the no garage (or combined garage with my neighbors) would stress me out.
if ur only reason for not moving out is a garage..then your just making excuses...just because you move out doesnt mean you cant probably ever use your parents garage again bro, i use my dads garage all the time still....they are still ur parents when you move out lol

This.
Like I stated, I can't get a job anywhere. Even with my better than most audio store owners knowledge of car audio, no one would hire me.
if your lookin for a job in car audio your gonna struggle anyhow working for someone else..what kinda money can you expect to make doing this? its a hobby not a career move for most. gotta get a real job bro.

If it makes money, it's a real job, bro. I mean I applied to fast food restaurants, everywhere. It's like I was too smart to work BS jobs but not enough experience to do a higher paying job, so I went back to school.

haha I know. Another thing about an apartment is your living month to month or lease to lease. An average apartment around here goes for $600-$700/month. I could get a small house(but still bigger than an apartment), on land, for around $600-$700/month including utilities. This way I would be putting my money toward something(Paying it off) rather than Tossing it out the window just to live. I understand a house is more upkeep but i wouldnt plan on anything huge.

yeah just cause ur making money doesnt make it a real job lol. i mean would you consider mcdonalds a real job? of course not its a joke.. im talking about a big boy, grown up, adult making a decent amount of money per year job, i live on my own i make almost 80k/year(cost of living is low in pittsburgh also) and its tough.. i dont know how you could live a decent life off 10-11$/hr jobs

yes but your prob not understandin something, the apartment is 600-700/month but prob includes a few of the utilities, a house your on your own for all utlities, gotta have insurance, theres a lot more involved than just paying the mortgage bro.. trust me lol..

You can't, but what kind of job can you get at 18 that makes more money than that? That's my whole point, people in the 18 year old age range can't make enough money to support themselves (generally), even if they get a job.

If your making 80K/year and its still tough you have no idea what budgeting is lol

i started the job i have now @ 18. making 33$/hr +health insurance+retirement... so i guess you can get a decent enough job if ur not making excuses and go look for a job?
