New here, but not to stereos...

It's been many years since I've been in the audio side of things, and now I've come back and am addicted as ever.

So here's my problem, I want a sub that weighs under 30 lbs. and can take at least 1000 RMS. Something durable, well built and in the $200-400 range. I've been considering a MMATS Dreadnaut, TREO TC and JL 12w6.

Shoot me some suggestions please.

**** that's fast. I like the speed of this forum already, except I got no love in the Amp section.

One more thing to mention, this is going in Mercedes CLK and I want to try to get the best of both worlds of SPL and SQ.

My goals are just to keep my trunk as light as I can yet pound the crap out of it to

maybe hit somewhere in the high 140s or low 150s if I can. I know it's going to be

hard, I'm not sure if anyone knows who Nathan Munsun is, but he was the first one

to get a single 10" DD in his orange Civic to do a 169. I've known him for the better

of over 11 years and we always argue about how most of my goals so hard to

achieve because of my parameters. Anyhow please keep the suggestions coming, I

know I have A LOT to learn all over again.

Polk SR...a bit cheaper than a W6 but VERY similar in sound and output and better power handling. (700rms) I still think Polk sourced the subs from JL but then again what do I know. I have two if your interested.

Thanks for the help and offers guys. Hey I thought I also should mention that I

listen to a lot of, not all, but mostly electro--break beats and drum & bass. I think

I need to take this into consideration meaning I need something that responds

quick, hard, loud and crisp. I was possibly leaning towards a large sealed rather

than ported box with a lot of power. I've always been a ported proponent, but I

think a sealed box might respond better and more accurate.
