12" sub measurements?!

Hey,

My brother just got a 12" Re Sx used. The guy who it bought it off said it was 12" but it looks like a 10. When you measure a sub do you measure just the rubber surface or the plastic circle surrounding it as well. Basically only the cone area or the whole width?

ah ok its 12" outside to outside but my brother got scared because the rubber part only not including the plastic part is only 10".

The measurement should be (roughly) from the outside of the surround.

There is an obvious difference between the 10 and 12" versions... post a pic (side view) and we'll tell you.

edit: on second thought, if you've taken a 12" measurement off the thing, its a 12. The 10 wouldn't be that wide even at its widest point (iirc).

thats my brother he's a bit of a worryer, but the idea he got was goona write down a common word like cranberry or something and then he can be sure its theres... but anyways

On the SX it is a foam surround and rubber gasket. The dish dustcap is like a coated pressed paper dish. The cone is like treated pressed paper.

WTF rubber part and plastic part are you talking about?

sorry se i mean...its all foam and then a rubber crease...and then theres alike a plastic part

Measure the outside...From edge to edge, outside past the screw holes.

Then tell us what it is.
