10s vs 12s for SQ

I wasint implying that power was a factor, The thread starter asked if high

What's the difference, then? Being able to push more power through them?
and i said that it is install dependent, because i changed one sub set out for another set, in the same box, and the driver that had the lower rated RMS sounded better to me. Im not saying that a High RMS driver cant be SQ, For god sakes im running a W7 i know that a high power handling driver can sound great.

Vehicle transfer function, in cabin resonant frequencies, imaging, cancellation, blah blah blah. Tons of little details that come into play if you want to get the last ounce of performance out of your setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Proper enclosure size, enclosure tunning, Equipment used, Imagging(sub placment), EQ settings(HPF,LPF...) Pretty much the basics for a sub.

I should also mention on a larger driver it will have more low end extension. So lower frequencys will play louder. Leading people to belive a 15" will (play lower) than a 8" driver:)

I'm only planning on them because I can get them for a good price, but open to suggestions. I have no idea what vehicle transfer function is.

Is there a thread around here that goes into detail for a SQ setup?

And could you get 1 12 to sound as good as 2 10s?
Yes. depending on what subs you do use. If you are set on purchasing 2 10's there is nothing wrong with that:) My buddy insists on running only 10's or 8's. What type of budget do you have for the speakers, and how many/size do you wish to purchase. We could help you choose a SQ driver within your budget.

That's why I was asking, because I hear great things about the w7s, but couldn't afford 2 of them, I don't think. I'd like to keep it under 300, but could probably budget 400 out for the sub(s) if I feel it necessary, and will most likely be trying my hand at the box myself.

300-400 is a good budget for subs. Were you wanting a single sub setup or dual?

Plenty of options.
