you can model displacement potential of a sealed enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifI can't even figure out what you are trying to prove...loudness, ability to hit low notes, based off 1 t/s specs and price?
You can't model loud. If you could, dB drag wouldn't even have cars...it would be a bunch of econometricans and SAS/R outputs...but no need for cars if we can model loud.
Trust me, took about 1.5 yeaks of tommyk telling me over and over again that I can't model loud before I actually believed him.
okay, you can model displacement potential of a sealed enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
i'm trying to say that it depends on the sub... but it's usually STUPID to go with 4 8's over 2 10's sealedI am confused cot,
what are you trying to prove?
air displacement has a dirrect correlation to output level so it gives you a good idea...okay,
but that doesn't tell me how loud it is going to get or how good it is going to sound.
I can give you a great reason.i'm trying to say that it depends on the sub... but it's usually STUPID to go with 4 8's over 2 10's sealed
while yes you can do some crazy AWSOME things with ported boxes, this guy isn't a sound engineer and i doubt he wants 8's for the sake of being cool or different when with the larger subs he's gunna get way more bang for his buck (in most circumstances)
well then in your circumstance 8's are you're only option but i was trying (unsucessfully) to help the OP with these reccomendations...I can give you a great reason.
The space I have isn't high enough for tens, but high enough for 8s.
Say you have plenty of length, but not plenty of height.
How does one combine economical with a discretionary purchase? Esp. JL audio.but seems to me that even if those specs didn't show much of a difference in output that from an economical standpoint it's obvious what the better choice is...
air displacement has a dirrect correlation to output level so it gives you a good idea...
if sub A displaces more air than sub B in sealed boxes
then sub A > B
and sub A is LOUDER than sub B
and no it doesn't model quality but thats why I included Fs in these comparisons...
while displacement said most of the time that the 10's would be louder
higher resonant frequency on the 8's said that there would be more of a difference in output at lower frequencies... in other words the 8's are usually gunna **** at low-end compared to 10's of the same model
see thats just not a very good point for the OPHow does one combine economical with a discretionary purchase? Esp. JL audio.
If by economical, you mean cheap, then your comparison is off. You can find some off-made 2" and 3" speakers for as low as .60 on parts express...and enough of them would have more Sd than two tens.
yes i did say that... whats wrong with it?Wait wait wait.. Did you seriously just say if one sub displaces more air in a sealed enclosure its going to be louder. What the fuck are you talking about?? There is no way in hell you could ever tell a sub is going to be louder based on driver displacement. That is stupid even for you man. Please for the love of god stop posting for a while and try to freakin learn something.
see thats just not a very good point for the OP
i'm trying to help the guy make the best decision....
i present an arguement...
and while you may have a point or have some exeptions to what i tell him, i HIGHLY doubt he wants to buy 50 2''s
i mean i don't understand why sometimes you guys make things SOOOO dang complicated when its SOOOO simple...
he's probably gunna go to a local store, best buy, or order from an online store where he's probly gunna be making a better decision by buying 2 10's instead of 4 8's
