10's or 8's...worried about low end.

Cot I'm gonna be nice here and try to make this simple so you'll understand this.

surface are: Four 8" = 201.06

One 15" = 176.71- just as an example

Two 10" = 157.08

Just for shits and giggles and generically speaking 4 8's have more surface area than a single 15 and therefore have the potential to move more air and that usually means the potential to be louder. Also how could you say that something with more surface area and moving more air than a 15 could not hit "the lows".

Please just understand this and quit while your ahead

i think you also need to make this distinction. a fifteen will play a 30 hz tone louder than an 8, however it's going to play all tones louder, not just the 30 hz tone. overall iff you were to look at an rta the loudness of the 30 hz tone will be just as proporationate to the rest of the response curve as the 15. make sense?? once you start adding enough 8's to get the cone area the same it should be about the same.

you obviously don't understand as well as you think you do...

#1 your figures aren't correct, Sd varries by sub but there is not usually that big of a difference between the total Sd of 2 10's and 4 8's

#2 the more subs you have, the more power= less efficient

#3 more subs more money

#4 while the 8's might have more Sd than the 15 the Fs is gunna be about 10-30 hz lower, which means that the 1 15 will likely beat the 8's at the lower frequencys

no the curves are different (the Fs)

thus the peak resonces are different 8's usually just don't play as low as 10's as loud

while a 15 is loude all around the difference changes with the frequency

so @ 20 hz the difference might be 6dB but at 50 hz the difference only 3dB

There's lots I could say, but you tell me a limitation of an 8" driver and I will tell you how to beat it. Might not always be cheap, though.

You can usually tell when someone is uninformed regarding a topic when they use ONE characteristic to make an entire argument.

the same is true for ever aspect of everything in car audio, there is allways another way to do it, i tried to (1 13 and 4 10's) but that doesn't allways make it the best decision

fs isn't a curve. it's a constant in theory.

and the soundplinter rli 8 has an fs of 25.7 hz for the single 4 ohm coil.

and no the curves will basically be similar as long as a similar box alignment is used.

say an tc 1k 8" in an optimal ported enclosure and a tc 1k 15" in it's optimal enclosure the response curve will be very similar and the lows of that sub will be propotionate to one another.

and as had been said far beyond in this thread you have already demonstrated enough that you have no clue as to what the hell you are talking about. even when seasoned audiophiles come one and tell you you are wrong on multiple occasion with multiple people you still argue that you are right.

got anything else stupid to say? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Are you talking to me?? Kid, myself and numerous other people have showed and told you exactly what is flawed in every theory you have ever tried to pawn off as fact on here. I even tried to be nice and just break down one scenario so you could try to realize the amount of B.S you're spewing. The part that makes you more ignorant than the average joe that wants to learn, You will never admit when you are just so full of shit and rambling incoherent non sense. This fact alone makes you more of an idiot than someone that can listen to others with more experience in the freakin Cack than you have in your whole body. This thread officially **** out loud. i think it might have even given me cancer.

lol the fs is the subs free air resonance.
yes but it translates into a figure that you can compare the low-end extension by

the fs changes in an enclosure but it will change proportionally... if 2 subs have different Fs's then it makes NO sence to say their responce curves will look the same...

way to get touchy... no i wasn't talking to you... but i don't see where you've done anything but say i'm wrong, for a reason that i, in turn, proved wrong and then once again babble about how i **** at life
