10hz box for Atomic APX18

only way your going to do it then if with a TI style 18" basket, bigger spiders and double spaced spiders. id run 3 spiders double spaced, 18" TI basket, 8 layer 3" coil round aluminum wire, and a wide roll cone. run double round leadwires and a carbon cap to be nice. i know where all parts can be found but with this selection of parts you still will not drop the fs low enough to get to 10hz. try a round copper coil and possibly but i still doubt it. but the copper coil will have better chances of doing so.,

not low. you might be able to get a little lower with the 8" spiders but not even close to where you want to go. that basket will not allow for spacing of the spiders, it will only allow 8" spiders or 9.25" spiders i beleive. you can still run a wide roll cone but i dont think youll get below 26hz.

i do have everything here to recone that sub but the coil. which i do know where that is too. but i have a cone, 3 spiders in either 9.75" or 8", dust cap, direct lead wire, and tinsel leadwire.

I'll put up a video of when it all comes together! Recone the atomic sub:

If it has a big gap that fits an 8-layer, put a 4 in it for a big tolorance, a heavy *** cone, compliant suspension, and put it in a sealed box. Make sure the fs is low.

Or do the same, but use a stiff suspension and do IB. But you should know what parts you will need first, you would need a decent subwoofer designer like Daveski.

In these cases you will have a higher Q which is good for either sealed, or IB use, you will obviously need a low FS in this case.

To the comment earlier about not tunning a sub below fs, you def can and is reccomended if you want lows in your car, fis, dcs, and atomic have fss higher then what people tune too to get low notes in, but you will sacrifice efficiency and output, but you dnt need extra output like for SPL, it will just extend the lows if you tune and build it correct.(honestly also depends on sub) Also, if you go with a sealed box, then the boxes res freq will always be right above fs though, but cabin may help too though.

Well...

Still have to pay off a $2500 loan, save $1000, and replace my turbo in my S4. At least I have a stable, well paying job!
