10hz box for Atomic APX18

Think how it is now is about as good as it's gonna get, but I'm just a '10er so what do I know? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
You don't think it would do any better on low notes with a lower tuned and larger box? If so, then fml I guess lol

problem is you cannot gear that sub that low with the parts in that sub. those subs like smallish boxes. atomic reccomends 6 cubes tuned to 32hz. if you were going up to 8-10 cubes tuned to 10hz it might work. but the mechanical noise, suspension issues, mechanical limitations of the driver itself will make it horrible at those low frequencies.

if you do attempt it. i would try 10 cubes with 150 inches of port tuned to 10hz. you will need a long port.

probably not, but I'm no expert. I guess if you have the resources you could give it a shot for fun and go big and tune it to 10hz with some absurdly large box. but the sub prolly won't like it

Do you think it would be cost effective to get PSI to send me a recone that is built to handle those low notes well, as opposed to the $150 original Atomic recone?

problem is making the enclosure bigger will take away from the "musical" aspect of things and make it more muddy and not as crisp. will also take away the ability for it to be "on key" with the tones. so your kinda fighting yourself.

what motor is on that apx? 818 or 856?

and no on the PSI recone. i would send him the entire driver for a recone and pull t/s specs on it. it will be test and tune with coils depending on what motor you have.

Unlike 90% of the people here, I don't want to compete, even if it is in my car. When it comes to competitions, I just bring what I got and enjoy whatever comes of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So yes, it is definitely just for fun. If I were being practical, I would throw it in a 6cft box tuned at 33hz like Violence said

No matter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I have a Diyma R12 for when I need to get serious. This is just for fun, plain and simple. Dirty bass is no issue here, nor is "quickness" (time alignment will help counteract that). I will use the Diyma when I want clean, accurate bass.

I wanna say 856? But I'm not sure. I'll go check in a second here.

Sounds like a good idea, but an expensive one at that :/

honestly if your going to destroy that sub, send it to dave. tell him what you want and let him pull t/s specs. but last i checked he was a month behind on things and was not taking orders.

um, what?

OK here ya go,

Give or take a bit

30 cubes

tuned to 22hz w/ 2- 12" ports 31.14" long

gives you a F3 of 19.15 and Xmax at 350w

so your dream of getting this sub to drop below 20 with any authority, is gonna end with you having a hand full of s hit. Thats what I mean.

Might as well just free-air it with a box like that lol

Looks like I'm not going to go for the original APX recone then!
