10hz box for Atomic APX18

its not the parts within the sub that determine what it will be used for. the motor, the coil, spiders and everything.
honestly if you want a HT 18 thats gonna go that low sell the atomic and buy a RE XXX 18. the XXX 18 has a fs of 15hz[
Or just get four cheap 15's on 100 watts.

I am never going to get rid of this sub, ever. And I'm definitely not going to shell out money for a different sub, so lets stick with the current situation, mmmmkay? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

your current situation is your beat. its not nor ever will be a HT sub. it will never fair well in that situation. you can spend the money on recones trying to attempt this but after you try it a few time you will realize it will not happen. so you can waste money, or buy a better suited driver.

Mmkay, I say, just **** all the advice that violence says, and do that sub in a 5 hz box on 100 watts

So after I get all my debts paid, I'm gunna re-align my sub's motor and recone it to the original APX (currently has RE MT softparts I believe). I want this to be my HT sub for movies and fun, meaning I want it to murder the ultra-low notes.
Box size doesn't really matter because I have a very large room to put it in, it makes the current 8cft box look small lol. I'm thinking a box tuned at 10hz would be good for making the 1hz-10hz notes tangible. I could already feel the air it moved down to 1hz in its current box tuned at 28hz, but I know it can do better. The fs is 26hz I believe on the original sub. I'll probably pick up a Behringer amp to throw at it. I'm not too concerned about output, as it is already a very efficient sub (94db/w/m), and that's not what I'm really aiming for anyways.

What size box do you think I should build, and what frequency should it be tuned at? I don't really know much about boxes, so any help would be appreciated.

Parameters can be found here - Atomic Loud Speakers
Cough, cough, B.S!

Think how it is now is about as good as it's gonna get, but I'm just a '10er so what do I know? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you can wish in one hand and s hit in the other and see which one gets full first.

have at it then. what do i know. its not like i build subs or anything.
Hey man I didn't say that your idea would be mo bettah, just that that's not the route I want to take. I'm just asking that given the situation where you have to build a box that will kill the very low subsonic frequencies for this specific sub, what kind of box would you build? You obviously know more than I do about the sub and/or enclosures in general.
