06 Accord NEED ADVICE

i just joined, but i've been looking around the site for a few days now... and i'll admit i dont know SHIT about car audio...

i just bought my first "real" car, a brand new '06 accord... my baby is in its second day of building at the honda plant here in ohio.. build dates are 5/24/06-5/28/06...

i bought a black lx 5-speed. i bought the lx becuase i knew i was gonna drop some cash on the sound system and wheels, so why waste it on accessories i'm not gonna care about. in any case, my car will be here in about a week and i really wanna get a good head start on the system design as soon as possible. i've got about 2000 saved up.. which i'm starting to gather isnt as much as i thought for a total system (head unit, mids n highs, amps, subs, install, wiring, etc) but i really dont wanna go over 2gs.

in any case, i'll have pictures up here as soon as i get the car. i picked out the wheels already and i saw a few threads on here with pics of people who just got some new rims, so i'll throw this in here while i have the chance.. 20" speedy octane black w/ a true chrome lip... 245/30 or 35/20 tires....

but anyways, back to the system.. i need some reccomendations on what equiptment to buy to stay under my limit of 2gs. i listen to mainly rap and hip-hop, but i'm into about everything. i want a great sq system, but still LOTS of bass, i love bass and i want a system thats going to blow peoples minds. that being said, i've never installed anything myself besides a head unit and a few speakers.... BUT i am a pro dj and know a thing or two about sound and how to wire things... also i have a few friends that install so i think i'll be ok...

head unit: i want something simple, nothing flashy... i'll install it in the cabinet in front of the gear shift, and leave the stock cd player in place in the dash to give the install a "stealth" look.. that being said i've been looking around and definitely want one with good preamps (4v or 5v)..

internal speakers: like i said before i'm a bass head, and these might come after the subs and head unit... but i'd still like to have everything at once so i wanna have something picked out.... definitely havnt done much research on this area

subs: ok here is the big question... one or two? i just put a P2 10" in a custom box in my girl's rsx, box in the spare tire well, ported, facing up towards the hatch... with a directed 600d amp pushing it and it shakes my sternum.. I NEED SOMETHING THATS GONNA BE LOUDER THAN THIS FOR SURE... i've been looking at 1 ID MAX, but i heard subs like that are all SPL, with low SQ... but then again that was from one of these redneck shops around here...

i want as much of my trunk space as possible, but still make my head bang... which i know is an oxymoron. what do you guys reccomend?

amps: been looking at the new alpine PDX. i want a system that when a short burst of bass hits, it feels like someone punched you in the back of the head. i heard this was attributable to the damping factor on the amp, and i heard the PDX 1.1000 is the best on the market for this. that being said, its 800$ and would take up a large chunk of my 2000$ limit... as far as the internal amp... i have a shitty LA POWER 4.600 amp laying around that would work for the time being, but if needed i'll definitely get a new 4 channel..

install: i was thinking something custom along the left n right sides of the trunk, effectively leaving the center trunk space open for whatever i may need it for... but in either case, i want a very clean install with alot of trunk space left... amps in the spare tire well?

SQ is definitely important to me... as well as lots of bass...

overall... i'm buying a brand new car, i absolutely dont want to change the alternator.. or really the battery if at all possible.. but battery is definitely an option.. also... a capacitor may be necessary... please advise...

i'd really appreciate any help i could get... i'm going nuts with learning so much in such a short amount of time, and if i could narrow my searching down to a few options it'd really help... thanks in advance guys

And there you have it a very musical yeat loud system for under $2000... Can spend the rest on deadning. Also the dude that told you IDMAx subs are SPL is an idiot lol... Thats why they are called Image DYNAMICS hence they are very well known in the SQ field of subs. Great woofer but a little pricey, but worth the price.

yeah i know.... i heard many many many good things about these subs and i goto this shop and hes like i've never heard of idmax... but image dynamics is all spl competition shit...

thanks hayabusa for your suggestions.. what about rear fill? and do you know of anyplace online that has these components that u listed for a good price?

You don't need a rear fill since the subs should be all the rear you need but if you must have a set, JL TRs would be a fine choice for them.

The setup Hayabusa listed would definitely be good. I definitely agree with the head unit selection (it's officially called the DEH-P880PRS so you can look into it). I'd audition as many speakers as you can before buying, speaker preference is subjective. You could look at an Aurasound amp from Parts Express for your frontstage, which is 2 x 150W for $100. The RL-P will be a good sub for your purposes and won't break the bank. And yes, you were right not to listen to salesmen trying to get you to buy their inferior product by spewing bs about other products.

What does it really matter between 18" 19" 20"? Nothin but the cash you're willin to drop and the look that you're after. If there is a technical/mechanical reason i shouldnt put 20"s on this accord please lemme kno before i put em on.

I'll definitely be taking my time looking into this stuff, after doing even more research i've discovered i've really gotta take my time and put this together peice by peice instead of just hurrying up and putting in a system. I want it to sound great and I want it to be a system i'm gonna love for the length I own the car.

Thanks for all the help guys, any other opinions are welcome of course. I'll keep on doing research on these parts... Any other good stores to look at online for these parts?

try 6spdcoupe for the front stage and some good advice. he is VERY familiar with that car since he had an '03 coupe.......pretty much same vehicle.

so after re-evaluating my cash flow situation... i have 2 options..

i have 2000 in disposable income, i thought i had 4000 (2000 for rims, 2000 for system), but i'd rather wait and drop the other 2 either at christmas time or next summer..

so. do prices for these car audio parts go up or down around christmas time?

So what are you doing then? Are you going the rim route first or audio?

I think what the first guy said would sound great for what you are looking for. Personally me I would get 2 Image Dynamics IDMaxV3 12" Subs. They dont take up a lot of space and friggin rock! You could put one on each side of your trunk and do the amps flushed in the tire well. I would run it off a memphis belle amp. Too sweet! For Highs I would check into morels, Boston, ID, Mb Quart, Diamonds. Good luck and have fun with your new ride.

Also, dont listen to Sage, he is a complete douche rocket.
