Base insurance policies don't cover car audio installs at all.

You have to add a special addendum on any car insurance policy for car audio and any aftermarket wheels also. Relative worked in car insurance for 30+ years. If you don't have that addendum then no they don't just cover car audio thefts from your vehicle.

Not all insurance companies cover after market audio or after market auto upgrades. Check with your Agent and go over the Policy and coverage provided
