Help Me Choose 8s

I know DD 8's and Sundown 8's are very good, both are, personally, heard many of each in person and built boxes for said woofers in multiple vehicles and was part of the larger install.

The DD dealer told me that the super charged option helps the woofer be in control and pretty much be ready for the next best. More for fast paced beat music. I think I'm going to get that option as rap isn't the only music I listen to. It will be good for pop music like Michael Jackson

I was thinking of maybe doing 10s but then it got me thinking if I go with the DD 2508 and it's a true 8" and compared it to a sundown SA classic 10 or it's real size is 9.25".

So how much louder would going 2 10s with 2.5" extra diameter then doing DD2508?

You are overthinking it. At some point, you gotta pull that trigger on a decision. You need to keep in mind your airspace limitations, as well.

Sa-10 is a very real and very good 10" woofer.

That’s what it’s all about. 8s in an optimal box on the same wattage are likely to outperform 10s squashed in a box too small. Just do the math and see if you can fit 10s in it’s optimal enclosure. If not, go with 8s

That hasn’t been something I really paid attention to. I like efficient subs that perform in small ported boxes, and I prefer SQ over SPL. My favorite 10 I’ve ever owned was a toss up between my old diamond D6 and the newer Dayton HO 10, but the Dayton does very well in .6 cubes, and the diamond wanted double that. Cone area hasn’t really factored into my decisions. Maybe if I was competing I would pay more attention to it.

Cone area > mounting diameter, as far as loudness goes.

T/s parameter would be “Sd”.

None of that means one woofer will be particularly better or louder than another, it’s all about the whole picture.

So I just picked up me new jeep today and fully measured how much space I want to give up. 35w 20h 15d. Now with the measurements proper how much space do I actually behave to play with? Two 8s? Two 10s?

That's about 4.8 cubes internally with all 6x .75" thick sides. You could fit 2 bigger box 10's with some extra space there, I would totally do that.

That's about 2 cubic feet bigger or so than the old dimensions that you originally gave me, iirc the OG you gave me was like 2.8-2.9 cubes internally. I think. But either way, that's quite a bit more room, easily over a cube larger.

So I have room to do two 10" sundown SA or two 8" DD 2508
