Taramps! Unreliable Garbage or Good Amps?

So what exactly do you want ? You want me to make a youtube video breaking down the motherboard and all the cheap cost saving methods the boards has ? Have a guest speaker who works on amps for a living explain why failure rate is high ? (lmao)

I mean technically taramps doesn’t say any of their amps are stable below 1 ohm not many companies do so I guess you can say user error but on the other hand he said rising to 1.6

Just curious if you know what the failure rate is? You stated that it was high, so, I'm just wondering what article or research study that you learned this information from?

That last post was me being a smartass. The 3 post I made in this thread didn't have anything in regards the failure rate (the only failure statement I made was that some of the fanboys claim the failures are "user error" instead of trying to find the reason the amp/component failed).

I did state that I do like the bang for your buck on running 4ohm on the higher wattage models and that the smart series does have huge potential if it can survive what is basically the trial run (since it's a new amp)

You do know that you can buy most of their amps in the ohm load that you want, right? You can buy most of their amps in a 4 ohm version. My MD3000 is a one ohm version, but I could've easily bought the four ohm version and still received the rated 3,000 watts at 12.6 volts. Why do you not like the one or two ohm versions of Taramps?

I think you misread. I was noting how it was impressive that running the 1ohm and 2ohm models at 4ohms still provided amazing bang for your buck, less strain on electrical/amp and more than enough power for most daily setups. That was my point, even if you played it safe your still getting value

Then, why not just get the four ohm version and have more headroom with the amp and it would be even easier on your electrical? Meaning, that you wouldn't have to turn the gain up as much. For instance, if you only need 1,500 watts out of a 2 ohm version 3k that puts out 1,920 watts at 4 ohms, then, the gain will be turned up quite a bit to get the 1,500 watts. Whereas, a 4 ohm 3k amp, the gain wouldn't have to be turned up so much to achieve the desired 1,500 watts. Hence, the amp wouldn't be running so hard.

Did you say "motherboard?" lol your claim is baseless, prove me wrong if you're so confident.

According to one shop owner I talked to recently early models were as high as 50% failure rate right out of the box.

You are very much willing to accept any anecdotal tales of people using theirs without failure as evidence of overall reliability and ready to discount any failures as user error or abuse.
 
From my findings and actual experiences is....they CAN NOT sustain their 1ohm rms ratings for very long with out burning up I don’t care what anyone says....they rely on impedance rise and voltage drop...they don’t have the internals or heat sinks to sustain the heat from making rated power for long....Koreans are built to run their rated power all day hence why they're the size they are

I've said repeatedly that Taramps shipping is terrible. Also, their quality control is probably lacking, as well. But, when a person buys a one ohm amp and wires it to .66 because they are accounting for rise, I think that is user or installer error. I'm too old to argue anymore, I'm turning over a new leaf. I respect your opinion and hopefully Taramps will be more reliable in the future. If this was last year, when I was still young, I would debate this topic with you all night long.

Just because I said that Taramps has bad shipping and bad quality control, doesn't change my opinion. I still believe that the majority (85%) of Taramps reliability issues are due to user or installer error. Plus, people get mad and get me banned whenever I argue with somebody.

The ds has more power...it's rated at 12.6v and the ts at 13.8v... I had the the ts400x4 though and it a good little amp
