American Bass HD15d2 Amp and Box

Idk why you perceive some disdain for the Xtr2500.1 from me, other than a tendency to run hot, massive current draw and set Ssf its a monster and will get the job done for sure. Did I say anything detrimental about the amp?

You said that you would do it different on my power, that's all. I am a little concerned about the draw that amp will take though. It is a 54 year old car converted over to 12 volt. The box I designed, not AB is as follows. 35"W X 15.5"H X 18.25" D. With a 3" port X 13" long (small L-shape). Would this work in your expert opinion? I want deep and loud, just like everybody else. 😂

AB recommends a 40hz tune with 45in2 of port in 3.5ft3net?.. roll with it or pay for a legit design tuned low.
Btw "on your power" meant port area specifically and airspace as well.

So, best bet is stick with what AB says. Do you think a prefab can stand up to the 15 and the power? Or, do I have to build a box?

Your best bet is to enclose that monster tuned to your taste and sized/ported for your power, configured for your vehicle and please... No prefabs.
Be clear on your goals with your designer/builder.

Like this one,

That 36hz tuned enclosure I drew up above (post #9) would destroy that Skarbage prefab especially with all your power.

Like this one,

Sorry, I sent the wrong one. I meant the Qbomb15vl, 3.85 cu. ft. Tuned to 37 hz.

I hear ya. Sounds like I need to buy some 1" MDF.

Are you looking for a cheap way?.. DIY is the only way Imo. i don't even waste my time with prefabs... maybe someone else can help.
.75" materials and I advise to grab a legit design... the AB design is a cookie cutter sounds like.
I'd be specific when you talk to the designer... 32hz tuned etc...

Las Vegas doesn't have any really nice car audio shops. There's one, but he wants $500 to build a box. Otherwise, it's fly by night Hispanics who basically guess. No programs or box building apps used. I designed the one in my truck, pretty basic design. This is what I found from AB for the HD15d2.

I ran the numbers you gave regarding that design in Torres... it looks like an SPL oriented design, NOT for mad lows but will pound. Under 30hz will probably be lacking... especially on your power. What's your experience level?

My experience level. My first real system was 2-Rockford Dosgate pro series 12's ($380/each) powered by a Nak PA400m (440 watts mono), ratings were different back then, basically at least a $1 a watt. I'd say I'm a well educated enthusiast. I have never competed.

Ok then... seems like enclosure design is something you never learned tho. Np... in Vegas you should be able to find plenty of builders/designers. I met a ton in Bullhead last week from the Vegas area... they're out there... believe me...lol
I just reached out to someone in your area and you can see what he wants to do the job once he responds. May be $500 could be less. A single 15 slot ported .75 mdf... 200$-250$ carpeted would be my guess. I'll PM you his info when he responds.

O.k.cool, thanks for your help. The first box I ever had built was for the two Rockford pro 12's. It was made out of 1" thick Medite, separate chambers, and it was a tank.
