Im going to get this box for my 2017 Tacoma -  http://www.audioenhancers.com/vehiclespecific/tac140p.php

I been looking at a lot of subs, i need 5' 7/8 mount depth for a 10' and 5' 1/16 mount depth for a 12' sub mount depth. Ive had shallow mount subs before and i don't think they are great... So Ive come up with 2 subs that would just fit.

A 12' Alpine S or a 10' Alpine R. Which one do you think would be better? I really like my bass... seems like a close call. The S 12' is bigger woofer, but the 10' R has more xmax and handle's more rms.

What do you guys think before i buy?

Shallows usually leave something to be desired I agree, but I've heard some people rave about these...

IDK the displacement of those but if you put em in 1.4ft3 sealed I'd bet a pair would do really well on 1K...

Cone area is King... they say... lol

Kinda pricey tho... but you get what you pay for they say

Anyone have direct experience with these?

Jeez... I feel like Gramps giving advice without experience and repeating what I've heard... I digress

I used to run 2 12's on a 1k amp, in an older car. Did the big three, better battery and boosted alternator. Im trying to get away from boosting my alternator and sticking with my jx500.1d amp on my Tacoma. I would rather just have one good sub in ported.. i like my music with ported more.

https://stereointegrity.com/product/bm-mk-v-12-subwoofer/  - looks good but ill need dual 4ohm, plus its a sealed sub.

I could run a sundown SD3 12', but the sub is not recommended for ported.. which *****

If you had to choose, 12' Alpine S or 10' Alpine R?

I have heard that the SI are stunning and dig low in very small boxes, although I’ve read that they don’t want one watt more than recommend RMS...
those are monsterous shallow mounts, at least from the specs and all

PLEEEEEEASSEEEEEEEE GET THE SI!!!! LoL

I could get this box instead http://www.audioenhancers.com/vehiclespecific/tac140.php

I have a alpine mrx-m110 amp kicking around, more than enough power to power 2 12' SI bmmkv.... but its going to be hard on my new truck electronics. Not exactly light on the wallet either.

Kinda like a single ported better....

SQ yes but with a low Fs. 7.5" VC and a 3500 watt RMS rated capability, it’s a beast of a performer. Not well known in the car audio circuit, but...
