Your opinion on these 12" boss?

I'm thinking about picking up a pair of BOSS AUDIO P126DVC 12" 4600W. They are priced at $120 for a pair. Do you guys think they are worth the price? If not, what else can you recommend? What amp would be recommended for those boss subs? I'm very limited on cash, I'm looking to spend no more then $300 in total and I understand that's cutting it pretty tight.

Right now I'm using an 800 watt sony xplod amp, with two 12" subs that I had laying around from about 6 years ago. I have no clue what the watts are on those subs, they are THUMP brand. They aren't all that great, so I'm looking to upgrade.

I assume my current amp wouldn't cut it for those boss subs. Would it be a good temporary amp until I am able to upgrade to a more expensive one?

Any suggestions at all would be great.

boss sub= death, sony amp = death, look into kicker, alpine, and maybe kenwood for that price, i know not everybody likes those but got anymore ideas for price post it up

These subs are great for the price.

This amp and you will be just over your $300 price range. Something like this.

Byrdman is right about boss= death and sony. But I disagree with his suggestions. Those are fine companies but pricey. There are soooo many good quality products out there that are way better quality and inexpensive.

Don't bother upgrading your equipment to equally as bad stuff.

If you have to have 2 for some reason the dual 2 ohm version is a little cheaper but you won't be able to hook it up at 1 ohm, therefore you will have to get e different amp to get your bang for your buck.

You are right, it is entry level equipment, but still literally 10 times better than the boss garbage. And someone looking at buying boss and their budget is $300 really doesn't have many options but to look at entry level stuff. Yeah, he can get used stuff, but I personally prefer new when possible.

I'ld say go for it, atleast they have a 2 1/2 voice coil and comes with a 1 year warranty

They are a poorly built over rated(on specs) product and the price your looking at is extreme compared to the same sub I see at flea markets for about 30.00 tops look on ebay you will be able to do a lot better for 300.00 like one type r and a decent amp will be louder then your current set-up and the one your thinking about

You say "all those" like there was somebody that did recommend those subs. Nobody did and for good reason. People here know whats up. I know your still thinking about getting them, but if you do you will not be happy. Even if they sound ok, i bet they will burn up super fast. So go ahead and buy them. Just let us all know how they work out for ya.

Boss has ALWAYS grossly over-rated their stuff. They had some decent American made stuff when they first came out, but even then they did nothing super powerful.

There's plenty of good "budget" stuff out there, Cadence comes highly reccomended and there are some refurb JBL and Infinity amps/speakers up on eBay from time to time direct from JBL/Harmon that are all solid for the price. If you don't mind buying used you have more options, I'd highly reccomend spending more time and money on a proper install and a solid box that way whatever you get will perform well for now and you'll be able to upgrade later with much less head ache.

Of course the key question is what exactly is your goal here? Do you have any space limitations?
