You say "all those" like there was somebody that did recommend those subs. Nobody did and for good reason. People here know whats up. I know your still thinking about getting them, but if you do you will not be happy. Even if they sound ok, i bet they will burn up super fast. So go ahead and buy them. Just let us all know how they work out for ya.

I'm aware of what people said, and how many said it. I'm aware of the knowledge of those on this discussion board being much greater than my own, hence the reason why I came to ask here to begin with.

I have two posts on this board, one was me asking people's opinion on those subs and then one asking WHY they are not recommending. Now tell me bud, out of those posts, where do you get the idea that I still plan on buying them when you say "I know your still thinking about getting them"? Obviously I don't have much knowledge about car audio, so I am trying to understand why those are not good, so I know what to look to avoid in the future when shopping for subs.

As for everyone else, thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it. As for my budget, I am not limited just to the $300 in my original post. Ideally, I'd like to put together a decent system for around that much, but I now understand that it's not realistic.

You can put together a really decent system for that budget; you just have to know what to look for. I agree with the Cadence suggestion if you had to buy new, but I would look in the classifieds on here or Car Audio Classifieds.com. 99.9% of everything sold on either of those two forums will be good to go. All you have to do is find a combo that's in your price range.

What kind of vehicle is this going in? And are you doing the box yourself?

It's going in a 2000 mustang and yes I am going to be making the box myself, with the help of a buddy who is a carpenter.
