your first/worst system.....ever

I bought my first car just so I could put in a system (well, also so I could teach myself how to drive a manual) when I was 17. I did research on everything and got:

Two 12" Kicker L5's in a recommended ported enclosure

Powered by a Rockford Fosgate p500.2 (later got a Pioneer MRP-M1000)

With 4 gauge RF wire.

All my friends were like omg L5's :O!@#!@#

Now they are like what are those?

(Currently running a SAZ-3000D and a 05 model 15" RE Audio XXX)

Bought my first set up in 1993

Pioneer pull out cassette player

Pioneer 6.5" coaxials in the door

Alpine 100 watt 2 channel amp for the front stage

Alpine 300 watt sub amp

A pair of Cerwin Vega 12" subs

Sounded awesome in my 1981 280 ZX. I've never had a bad system, that stuff was pretty high end back then!

16 years old - 6.5" Infinity reference in front and rear, dual 600w 4 channel amp, 1 Dual 12" on 200 watts

17 years old - 6.5" infinity reference in front and rear, eclipse 600w 4 channel amp, jensen flip up, 2 PBX XS-12 (loved those speakers) on a bxi2607d

18 years old (now) - Headunit: Clarion EQS746

Active Front Stage: Silver Flute W17RC38 (150 watts) - Vifa NE25VTS Tweeters (150 Watts)

Front Stage Amp: Vibe litebox Stereo 4 & RF P550.5

Subwoofers: 4 12" Eclipse 88120.4 in 6.3 cuft tuned to 32hz

Subwoofer amp: Orion 2500D @ .8 ohms

Electrical: Stock alt (upgrade soon) 1 Deka 9a31 in trunk

My first system wasn't too bad, I just payed too much for it to be installed at age 17.

Blaupunkt GTX 6.5 coax's and 6x9 coax's

Pioneer Premier DEH-690 head unit

I still have that stuff in my car. The HU is still great, but I am working on replacing the front stage, I have Massive VK's but have been too lazy to get around to opening up my doors.

My first sub setup and the one I have now is pretty decent. RE SE-x 10'' sealed on Cadence ZRS C-65. I will be getting a 15'' FI Q or SSA Icon soon to replace the sub but the amp will stay.

I'm just glad in high school I had a friend that was big into car audio. He talked me out of purchasing some low end MTX subs. That's why I do research on everything I buy now.

first setup? sa 8 tuned to 32 hz. infinity 611a
hey bro, how'd u like that setup? im planning on running 2 or 3 of those tuned to 32hz in my tC

Even though we all had to start somewhere, some of us started out/kept/still have good systems.

IDK about mine.

This was back in '95

Clarion 6770 HU

Jensen 2/3 way active xover

MB Quart 5 1/4 coax's- fronts

none- rears

A Sony 4 ch amp, bridged to 2 chs

LANZAR LRX200 sub amp

2 LANZAR 12" Pro series subs

That was probably it, due to the Jensen xover. ??? I've always saved for the "good" stuff so I really haven't had what some would consider cheap/bad systems.

Rockford Fosgate HU (RF8230) I think

Zapco Seq

Rockford Fosgate Punch 6.5s front and punch 6x9s rear

JBC (Just Be Cool) 1000x2 at first then upgraded to Rockford Fosgate Punch 250a2

2 Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC 10s

Wasn't really that bad of a setup for a 17y/o imo. Fosgate was still quality in those days I think. Had that in my '59 Chevy Apache Fleetside. I have no idea why I had the Zapco board in there, since I never got around to powering the highs. That JBC amp was a joke.
