Your car's resonant freq?

Huh???

I'm guessing that a resonant frequency is the frequency that something vibrates at it's peak... Right?

And I seen a little about tuning according to the cars resonant frequency for max spl... How does this work, getting the car to vibrate excessively to create more spl?

How does one find out the resonant frequency of their car, what variables are involved, like the material used in the design of the car and stuff?

Resonance?

quite honestly... I haven't seen too many vehicles with a true peak frequency that sticks out like a sore thumb...

now before you try me on this... I said the car.... just because certain box designs show a peak... that's not the same thing...

I've tested and built MANY different vehicles... you throw a butterworth order in em, and you'll find nary little of a giant peak.... most vehicles are flat from 65-70hz, down to below 14 hz or so....

you will discover that box / tuning interactions will generate a peak frequency... that's called finding the most efficient working point of the box, vent, and woofer(s)

and it is easier to make certain woofer / tuning / box interactions more efficient (i.e louder) in vehicles.....

if I need to dig further into the topic.. lemme know..

Resonant Frequency Is Actually A Complicated Thing To Find Out In Vehicals, because Every Vehical Is Different Acoustically, but 1 Way Is To Take A Single Sub In A Sealed Box And Put In Ur Vehical And Meter It Playing A Sweep, then U Want To Try And Tune Ur Ported Box As Close As Possible To Wat The Meter Said

no

Because U Want A Flat Response To Start With, like A Sealed Box,if U Do It With A Ported Box ,u Havnt Found Out Anything About The Vehicals True Resonant Frequency Because The Ported Box Will Throw All That Off.

you know it's hard a f*ck to read when you type like that....
