Walls are for wussies
i rarely set my gains with a DMM. I do it by ear...I'll get one amp to where I want it, and just use the DMM on the others so they're matched.
so you turned the +15 down right?? its not at +15 now??? cause if it is then no shit its clippingLol Mega, its not that loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. But I was using an Alpine CDA-9835. I'm changing it out to a 880PRS today/tomorrow. And the ONLY thing I had set ont he 9835 was sub-out at +15 when I set the gain the full preamp output voltages.
If he set the gain with the sub out set to +15, there is no reason for it to be clipping as long as he didn't set it clipped. Sub pre-out levels are 0dB when at their max settings for alpine headunits and most other units that I know of. It isn't a bass boost feature.so you turned the +15 down right?? its not at +15 now??? cause if it is then no shit its clipping
well idk bout you but putting your sub preouts all the way up just doesnt sound like its good for the sub..if its not loud enough at 0 then get a louder system i dont trust my headunits sub preouts they stay at or below 0If he set the gain with the sub out set to +15, there is no reason for it to be clipping as long as he didn't set it clipped. Putting the pre-out level all the way up is like leaving the EQ flat and bass at 0. It's the same thing. If you set your gain with the sub out level at 0 then of course it's going to get louder when you turn it up! It's not boosting anything when it's set on it's highest setting. It's perfectly safe to use a max sub out level when setting your gain.well idk bout you but putting your sub preouts all the way up just doesnt sound like its good for the sub..if its not loud enough at 0 then get a louder system i dont trust my headunits sub preouts they stay at or below 0
when you set the gains, you need to have the sub control maxed to get the highest pre-out voltage. If he were to set it at say 10 and set the gains, then later on when he cranked the sub-control to 15, he'd be more inclined to clip the signal rather than setting it at 15 and then turning it down...well idk bout you but putting your sub preouts all the way up just doesnt sound like its good for the sub..if its not loud enough at 0 then get a louder system i dont trust my headunits sub preouts they stay at or below 0
im not that ****in stupid i know its gunna get louder once you turn it up...thats not the point i was trying to make...j3bu2k3 kinda answers what i was trying to ask/sayPutting the pre-out level all the way up is like leaving the EQ flat and bass at 0. x2 thats what i was tryin to sayI don't max it out because there are some songs that are recorded pretty low and they need some boost. I set them with 0dB tones with the sub control at +2 out of 6. This gives me the perfect amount of headroom for low recorded songs or songs that are too bass heavy and need some cut.
I also set my gains by ear; **** DMMs.
I'd love to know how you get tinsel slap on a sub with felt pads. That sucks.. I've been seeing more & more problems w/tinsel slap on these subs..
As stated, this is the SUB OUT LEVEL. The pre-out voltage ONLY.so you turned the +15 down right?? its not at +15 now??? cause if it is then no shit its clipping
