Power Acoustik OV2-1200 Gothic Series 1200 Watt 2-Channel Amplifier

2 12" 1240W infinity ref. subs

so... i finally got my box yesterday and today i install everything with my friend. The installation went fine until there was some problem with the remote line... my friend wanted to hook it up to a fuse in the fuse box so that the amp turns on automatically when the accessory is on. The thing was that we didnt know fuse controlled it and we couldnt find a diagram of the fuse box for my car (2001 nissan sentra) anywhere... so he just tried different ones until one turned on the amp the car was started. then we listened to the subs for no more than 30 seconds when the amp just turned off. I drove around and that would keep happening completeley randomly, the subs would be playing for a little bit (5 seconds-2 minutes) when they would just turn off and then start playing for a little bit after like 5 minutes.

We kept the car on and looked in the trunk and this is what seemed to be the problem: the amp would just randomly turn off and then turn on again. Sometimes the light would be blinking red, sometimes it would turn be off, and sometimes it would be green (this is when the subs worked). We couldnt control the amp at all, it would just change whenever it felt like it.

So, basically, i need to know what the problem is. My friend was clueless but said that it might be that the alternator or maybe the battery cant produce enough power for the amp to continuously be powered. is this right? what can i do about it? plz help...

ehh, PS.. my service engine soon light wont turn off ever since we were playing with the fuse box... any help w/ that too?

It sounds like you wired the subs in parallel making the amp see a 2 ohm load.

Your amp is not 2ohm mono stable and is going into protection mode. To fix this wire the subs in series to achieve an 8ohm mono load, your amp will stop shutting down and the amp will only lose 100watts of power output according to its specs.

600 watts RMS x1 @ 4ohms bridged / 300 watts RMS x2 @ 2ohms stereo .

500 watts RMS x1 @ 8ohms bridged / 250 watts RMS x2 @ 4ohms stereo.

You set off a trouble code while you were pissing with the fuse box, you will need a code reader to clear it (disconnecting the battery temporally may work too).

Hook up your remote to your head unit.

I have the same amp you have. I had the same issue you had. The issue was ultimately that my remote wire was not hooked up correctly(long story, wont' get into it). Hook it up to the head unit's remote turn-on.

Installs gone wrong.......

The remote wire need to be powered up any time the radio is on

HUs usually have a remote wire for this purpose.

Sounds like u need to rewire that remote wire,no fuse needed.

The subs could alse be wored wrong,I more info would be needed

use 2 pieces of wire and a toggle switch, connect one wire to the + on the amp, and one on the remote on the amp, and wire those to a toggle switch so you can have the amp on or off whenever you want to

would i have to pop my trunk every time i wanted to turn it on/off?
